TRAQUAIR FAIR 2015 Weekend 1st/2nd August
Posted by: jwrayth - 11 Jun 2015, 14:59 - Forum: Scotland - No Replies

Whilst proudly representing the DoC with other Scottish members at Thirlstane Castle, I was approached by an organizer for the Traquair Fair 2015. This years theme is "Americana" and despite contention over whether our cars are Irish/British or American, they'd like to get a couple of DeLoreans for the event. They've already booked Robert Gallo in directly, but apparently were not made aware that there is more than one DeLorean in Scotland. Since finding out they might be able to get an assortment of Gull-wing beauties, they are happy to make space for an additional two DeLoreans if possible.

I wanted to make sure everyone up North has a fair chance at attending due to the limited space, but if both slots don't get filled by other members then I'll book myself in to one of the slots. Though I'm keenly aware that mechanical issues disrupted the plans for some folks at Thirlstane, so I want to be sure that other owners get a chance to put their car in the spotlight!

If you'd like to attend feel free to either contact Catherine directly at catherine@traquair.co.uk, or contact myself to coordinate it as a group Smile

  Aircon low pressure switch
Posted by: Chris Hawes - 10 Jun 2015, 21:48 - Forum: 7 - Heating / Air Conditioning - Replies (8)

The aircon system has a suspected low pressure switch fault. Luckily I have an unused spare. The question is can this be safely unscrewed from the accumulator/dryer whilst the system is full of gas?

Thanks in advance

Wanted - Renault UN1 manual gear box
Posted by: DMCNI - 09 Jun 2015, 14:42 - Forum: DeLorean Cars or Parts For Sale or Wanted - Replies (11)

Hi,

I am putting the feelers out for a manual gear box for my car vin1780.

The car is currently sitting in my garage in a sorry state with ATF leaking out all over the place, the last time it was out the autobox decided to rev erratically and refused to change gear from 2nd to 3rd. I have asked some local gearbox specialists if they would be interested in repairing my autobox but they have said no. So I am looking at doing a manual conversion.

If anyone has one for sale at a reasonable price please pm me.

Many thanks

David

Did you import your own DeLorean from the USA?
Posted by: biker in a suit - 08 Jun 2015, 21:34 - Forum: General Discussions on the DOC / Car / Company / JZD - Replies (9)

Hi Folks,

I would like to hear from anyone who has imported their own car from the USA, I am not keen on the ebay route...more interested in US dealers who are willing to ship cars in need of some restoration.

I am looking at travelling to the states later this summer and any tips would be much appreciated.

I would also like to know if anyone is running a non standard motor, either and different engine altogether or a modified engine, did you get the parts in the UK or stateside?

Thanks in advance

Jamie

  Replacing a cracked/split injecter hose
Posted by: frostrobo - 08 Jun 2015, 08:39 - Forum: 2 - Emission / Fuel Systems - Replies (9)

Hi,

I noticed this weekend that one of the hoses from the distributer to the injector was cracked/split for about 5 inches, so I want to replace that rather sharpish. The ones in my car are black rubber and just slide onto the fittings at either end (there are no clamps holding them on). They don't look OEM, and seem to have been replaced with something generic in the past.

Can I replace the hose with a suitable length of generic "High pressure fuel injection hose" cut to the right length? Ed just seems to have the stainless steel ones available now rather than OEM ones, which I don't really like the look (or price!) of.

I'm thinking something like this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FSE-8mm-Bore- ... 1122377293

If so, is an internal bore of 6mm or 8 mm suitable? The outer hose diameter is about 11mm on my car.

Thanks,
Simon

Anyone want to be a part of a classic car parade on this date? They're after a Delorean to be part of a 175 car parade. Council ran so not sure much reward can be given, but I'm sure they'd look after you.

Drop me a pm if interested and I'll fire you the details.
