Posted by: Guinney1971 - 17 Jun 2015, 12:40 - Forum: Midlands - No Replies

This clashes with the DOC-UK weekend, but the organisers have asked me
to post it anyway:

Following two successful events in The Really Retro Show and Italian
Masters we would like to offer your club a stand at our flagship show
Runway Display to be held on *Sunday 16th August *at Seighford Driving
Centre (Home of Driveme.net), Stafford, Staffordshire.

Stands are available for up to 100 cars per club and if you stay for the
day then you will be enrolled in our competition where the winning club
receives a new club pop-up gazebo in a choice of colours!

To find out more about Runway Display please visit:

http://www.runwaydisplay.com

To complete your reservation/booking on line simply click *HERE
<http://www.jotformpro.com/carcodes/RWD2015clubs>* and fill in the form, it
will only take a few minutes provided you have all the members details. If
you prefer to ask each member submit a form then that is fine as long as
they put in your club name and just put in their own address.

Join us in celebrating our second year of Runway events and make RWD2015
even better.

Should you wish to discuss the event, have a chat or book over the phone
then please call me on 07581 746538. Please leave a message if it goes to
answerphone.

Automatic Transmission Filters ++ Prices and pre order info
Posted by: DMCTodayMichael - 17 Jun 2015, 03:00 - Forum: 4 - Transmission - Manual & Automatic - Replies (5)

Hello all! After 9 months of emails, phone calls, and prototypes, we are finally ready to start taking pre orders for the new auto trans filters. I think we are about 3 weeks away from shipping but the manufacturer said it might take longer (1 or 2 weeks). I want to start pre orders for you guys in the UK for two reasons. First, it would help ease the initial rush or orders when they do arrive so I would have plenty of time to print postage and address labels. Then when the filters arrive, all I would have to do is slip them in the pre addressed and stamped envelopes of those who pre paid.

Second, since shipping is $11.00 for one filter, you may want to elect one proxy member to accept all filters then distribute them personally or by local mail. This would be something you could all work out but I would do what I can from here. It would be much cheaper to box 25 or 50 filters up to one address than 1 or 2 at a time to all parts.

So after much calculation of cost including prices of mailers, shipping costs, gaskets, magnets, payment fees, etc. I have set prices accordingly:

Filters:
Filters are $46.00 each. Each filter will include one free cork mounting gasket...this is a DMC original part that I ordered so you the customer will not have to order this cheap gasket and pay shipping+handling for a $1.00 part.

If you need a magnet, please include $1.00 for each magnet desired. These magnets are a close to the OE size that I could find. You can see that they are the same size, but the new magnet is a bit thinner. However the new magnet is N35 neodymium which is about 4 times stronger than the ferrite stock magnets. You only need one for the factory configuration but I left my OE magnet on the filter and put a N35 magnet in the pan itself. Judging on how much metal the magnet catches, I think having one in the pan corner is good placement.

You can send payment to my paypal address:

wristwatchme@aol.com

If you like, you can leave a note detailing what quantities you would like but it's not necessary. I can see the total sent and figure out what you want. Please make sure your PayPal mailing address is correct. Also if you want to order several filters or have any questions on shipping to other countries please email me or PM me with your shipping address and I can give you a quote.

PS: For the pan gasket itself, you can use gasket maker "Right Stuff" RTV silicone. (This is what the DMC franchises do), or obtain one from DPI http://www.deloreanindustries.com/29...ceted_search=0

Again thanks to everyone who helped with this project with a special mention to Chad Krause (Dracula) and to Dave Swingle for his input and advice as well as everyone who contacted me personally expressing interest or just to say thanks.

Stage 2 mods & tech info required
Posted by: Doive - 17 Jun 2015, 00:18 - Forum: General Discussions on the DOC / Car / Company / JZD - Replies (3)

As some may know we are going through an engine top end rebuild, and so I've ordered a set of Ed's fast cams. Someone in the past has kindly fitted a nice stainless exhaust system to our car. I've read a bit about Volvo metering heads to help take the engine to Stage 2, but is there a definitive guide somewhere to setting the engine up properly to take advantage of the new hardware? I'm thinking especially about valve gap settings, cam timing, fuel pressures, etc.

Our car is with a specialist who knows the engines very well (Volvo Master Tech), so I'm sure he will be able to get the best out of it.

  Changes/Modifications to your cars
Posted by: GDTDMC12 - 16 Jun 2015, 20:25 - Forum: General Discussions on the DOC / Car / Company / JZD - Replies (5)

Hi DOC members,

Having just recently purchased a project car in the USA to be shipped to the UK for refurbishment, back to near standard factory condition, I have been wondering what if any modifications and/or upgrades to the car should be made.

For example I've already understood that some owners swap out the door light bulbs for LED versions to save on battery drain. This sounds logical to me and something I'll probably do.

I would like to ask the community if there are other recommended upgrades/modifications that really should be incorporated into the refurbishment programme?

Your opinions are gratefully sought.

Cheers,

Gareth.

DeLorean in music video-'Daddy wants milk'!
Posted by: bjbrownie - 16 Jun 2015, 07:53 - Forum: Members Cars - No Replies

Last year I had a good day out helping a music producer make a video-Matt Goodman of Sound Soldier Productions, based locally in Macclesfield needed a car for his video so we helped out, filming in the town centre I've never spoken to so many people interested in the car,a real treat as one guy said! Proceeds go to the David Lewis epilepsy charity.
The video has an 80s theme, and is catchy-love the phone and Mackintosh computer!

Please you can direct any enquiries yourself OR pass on my details to any potential buyers. I am sure you are aware, cars like mine, very seldom come up for sale, and represent a good investment, especially since nowadays, even l.h.d. cars in average condition are achieving around the 30k price

  Just purchased VIN #16606
Posted by: GDTDMC12 - 12 Jun 2015, 18:16 - Forum: Members Cars - Replies (18)

Hi DOC - I've done it, taken the plunge and actually purchased a project car with he help of Chris Nicholson. It's presently with it's owner and is being collected by the dealer from DMC Midwest and Chris Nicholson on 24th June from it's location in Illinois. Shipping is presently in the planning. Once in the UK Chris is going to do his magic to restore it. The car is 5 speed manual with black interior.

I've started the following blog to document this project for the benefit of my family and friends but also for anyone else, so please feel free to follow. Some initial pics are also shown on the blog.

http://timemachine16606.tumblr.com

I'm a complete novice so this project is a major undertaking for me. Any words of advice that are pertinent will be gratefully received.

Cheers.

  DeLorean Motor Company

First off sorry if this is in the wrong section, or if there is a thread running on it, if so please point me in the right direction, but I wanted to ask about these guys and their "new" cars. I've been on their website a bunch of times and wondered how their cars had such low mileage and having just watched two short youtube videos I am kind of confused. Their cars are not actually DeLoreans as produced in 81-83 but remakes using original parts?? How do you guys feel about this and have any of you got one of the "new" ones?
Also how many are they aiming to make and what's this I hear about law suits against them?

Sorry if this is really old news to you guys, but having always loved and wanted the car, it's really only recently I've started learning all about the history and legacy.

Cheers.
