Hello people!
My name is Richard and I'm a Paramedic living in The West Country.
I've had a number of interesting cars over the years, most recently just sold a TVR 400se.
Very interested in the Delorean, but as I've only ever seen one once in the flesh (and that was on the back of a recovery truck) I would love to see one for real, and chat to owners about what I might be letting myself in for!
Firstly, I'm 6'2" and pushing 18 stone (really must diet!), will I fit ok? Secondly, any owners down Exeter/Taunton way who would let me see one of these cars for real, close up please?
Thanks for having me.
Richard.

Hi all.
it is an exciting day today as i collect my DMC 12 from the docks. fingers crossed that it is as good as it looked on the photos. It is a red car. i am told that it is one that was painted red when new by the dealer network and has had one owner since 1986.
My plan is to get it UK road worthy and then look at the cosmetics. I have a set of RHD headlamps and will try to integrate the fog light into the rear cluster. any tips for all of the jobs will be appreciated.
I think that it will need seat covers, headlining and then i have to decide if i keep it red or go back to stainless, as it left the factory. I like to do most of the work myself and am thinking of getting it soda blasted and then trying to re-grain it. i think that it may be worth pulling the panels off to see if they are damaged from the inside? presumably removing the panels and doors would reduce the amount of mess and damage to the rest of the car. The door shuts are painted also.
The chassis number is 6100. it has covered 27,000 miles and looked like new on the underside.
I will be sending my membership application form in after finishing typing this.

Block rot |

Has anyone ever had block rot go right through?
I've got bad block rot in the deep recesses of my engine.
I've been gouging out rotted aluminium for hours, and I have no idea how much material is left in the recess walls or floor before I connect with the oil sump. I reckon I've got about 6mm deep rot holes through now.
My current plan is to use ACF-50 in these recesses once I'm finished cleaning them out.
Then I was thinking of gobbing RTV silicone in to them to bung them up.
Anyone's thoughts on that?
I have been recommended "alumalloy" or the UK equivalent, but I don't have an oxyacetylene torch. Only a MAPP gas torch, which I don't think will burn hot enough, plus due to these holes being so small and tight, I think my torch will be starved of oxygen to keep the flame alive. They are so tight I think the biggest problem would be actually fitting everything in there in the first place AND keeping my eye over it to see what I'm doing!
Anyone else succeeded in doing this?

All.
The UltraCon event (previously Star Cars and Heroes.... and originally KnightCon) is back again at the Doncaster RaceCourse on Sunday 13th September (10:00 - 16:00).
The event has grown, and now overlpas between a fully fledged "cosplay" and Sci-fi / heroes convetion with Lego and film and TV cars mixed in.
Please see http://www.ultracon.co.uk/.
But guests this year include Colin Baker and Nicola Bryant (the Doctor and Peri from Dr Who).
None film cars are by invitation only, but I'd like to see how many DeLoreans we can get this year (there will be at BTTF showing, and a whole collection of batmobiles).
I really need to give the organiser ideas of numbers ASAP please so we can arrange space.
John C
