Hi all,
After a long resurrection and a few "test drives" (in reality, confidence building drives), I took 4566 to Goodwood on Sunday for their Goodwood 75 Breakfast club. The drive, especially home, highlighted a couple of issues; in particular that she doesn't like staying in 5th gear for some reason... otherwise, a lot of heavy traffic meant the cooling system got a work out, so that's at least something positive.
https://www.goodwood.com/grr/event-cover...fast-club/ - she's on the site!

On returning home I started taking her apart! Haha... not really, but I had to sort some bits out; I had no aerial reception (fixed), my driver's side door lights failed (the connector fell off) and I couldn't get the engine cover open (maybe heat?; it's working now...). Also, my gear gaiter tore along one side and it appears to be glued to the center console rather than via metal clips. Little mysteries.
All part of the classic-car ownership fun. It was a very positive morning, especially representing a year on the Goodwood grid!

Vehicle Lift Required |

This is a long shot, but does anyone have access to a two or four post lift who lives reasonably close to me (Rugby)?
Not DeLorean related, but my M3 has a new rear diff sat in the dining room needing to be swapped over with the original unit still on the car, and this thing weighs a lot so it's not reasonable for me to attempt to do it myself 12" off the ground.
I had a solution available to me, but quite frankly, the chap in hand has become quit obnoxious having something held over me and repeatedly keeps developing excuses for it not being possible to help me out and further demanding that the job be done within 3hrs because he needs constant access to his lift etc. (He shouldn't have offered me in the first place!) The end result is that it's been months and no progress what so ever and now my MOT is looming and I have no choice but to see how she performs at the MOT and try to get the job done AFTER its MOT (which I'm hoping doesn't result in me being grounded stuck in the garage requiring a flatbed to transport it anywhere!).
BMW wont touch me with a barge pole because I never bought the replacement diff from them, so if I can't do the job myself, I'll have no choice but to go to an ordinary garage to get the job done. I'm reluctant on this as it was an ordinary garage who baulked the current one still on the car by messing up a simple oil seal change TWICE!
I'm currently about £2500 in the hole and that's still without the unit even being swapped over yet!

Hi, has anyone ever tried a Renault 25 V6 idle-speed ECU in the Delorean at all? Any joy?
Bosch part, and plugs look the same, but a different part number.

New seals - door won't close! |

My door seals are pretty shagged. Luckily*, the car came with a replacement set which I've been fitting this weekend.
I spent all day removing the old seals, scrapping out the sealant, cutting the new seals to shape/length and fitting them with new sealant only to find the doors wouldn't close! The doors close without the inner seal installed, so this appears to be the problem.
Many door slams later, I can get the doors closed only if I a) apply generous lubrication to the inner seal and b) slam it down firmly with two hands.
I've seated the seals with a mallet (repeatedly) and installed the seal around both ways, but no improvement.
I'm pulling my hair out. Help!
