DeLorean Wanted for Charity Event. Kent 3 Sept 2017
Posted by: Chris Williams - 11 May 2017, 18:39 - Forum: South East - No Replies

Hi There

I am the Chair of a small village pre school in Kent. We are holding a charity fund raising event on the 3rd Sept. We have an outdoor cinema with an expected audience of circa 500 people, we will be showing "BACK TO THE FUTURE"

It would be just amazing if any of your members could attend and simply park there fabulous cars up and let some really excited children and I am sure adults see hen in the flesh.. we don't have funds to pay them but I am sure we could give them food and drink and if needed a bit of petrol money!! But all proceeds are for building a new school!

If you think this is at all possible and if if your local members might be interested in helping please let me know.

Any help would be gratefully appreciate.

Kindest regards and keeping my fingers crossed.

Car Show, Godalming. 22nd July 2017
Posted by: Chris Williams - 11 May 2017, 18:34 - Forum: South East - No Replies

I got your details from the Delorean Owners Club site.  If you are not the right person to deal with my request I'm hoping you will be able to pass this message on please.

I am writing on behalf of the Weald Classic Vehicle Club.  We are based in Burgess Hill Sussex.

Through one of our members we have been asked to put on a 50 vehicle display of classic cars at a prestigious charity day in Godalming Surrey.  The event is the Vintage Fair to celebrate the 125 anniversary of the Meath Epilepsy Trust.  It is taking place in the magnificent setting of Westbrook Park in Godalming Surrey on Saturday 22nd July from 10.00 am to 5.00pm.

We would like to display a time-line of vehicles between 1920s to 1990s.  The Delorean is such an iconic vehicle we would very muck like to include at least one in our display.  If any of your members in the South East can support us by bringing their cars along we would love to hear from them.  I'm sure they will have an enjoyable day out and they will be supporting a very worthy charity too.

The visitors car parking is quite a way from the display area so we really need to have display vehicles pre-booked to make sure we reserve space for them.  There is a booking form on our website www.wealdclassicclub.com or phone Fred - 01444 239853

Win 2 tickets to Knockhill - 7th May
Posted by: oilman - 03 May 2017, 11:45 - Forum: Parts Suppliers - Replies (1)

Hi guys

Opie Oils have a pair of tickets to Knockhill Racing Circuit up for grabs, so if you and a guest fancy spending the day watching round two of the Scottish Championship Car Race as well as their brand new "May Mini Mania Show" then you may be in luck!

To be in with a chance of winning these tickets, all you have to do is drop us a PM titled Mini Mania. In the message, please include your full name, the name of your guest, your address, telephone number and email address - this will make sure that we can get in touch with you as quickly as possible after the winner has been selected.

Please only apply if you are able to attend on the 7th May, as it would be a shame for the tickets to go to waste

Should you be the lucky winner of these tickets, your guest and yourself will meet a member of the David Sleigh Race Team at the gates at 10:30AM on Sunday 7th May. They will then provide you with your passes and bring you accross to their race awning, skipping the waiting lines. Here, you can meet this awesome racing team, hang out for the day and have some lunch whilst watching a superb range of racing classes battle it out over 18 races. This year will also see the first ever Mini Show featuring Mini Car Clubs for the classics and the new models, perfect for admirers of this iconic vehicle. All in all, it's going to be a pretty action packed day!

You can find full details of the event HERE, and David Sleigh Racings page HERE. Please feel free to drop us a line too if you need any further information, we're in the office Monday to Friday 8:30 - 5:30 on 01209 202 944 or via email on sales@opieoils.co.uk.

As the event is for this weekend, get those messages in quick, the winner will be picked at random and contacted by Thursday 4th. Best of luck guys!

Cheers,

Oilman

  Possible ground short???
Posted by: c.douch - 25 Apr 2017, 21:17 - Forum: 3 - Electrical - Replies (3)

Hi all,

I've got a few minor issues and was wondering if they could be related:

1. The blower doesn't work at any speed. I've checked the connections with a mulitmeter, and whist the live connector seems fine, the ground doesn't appear to be connected to ground.

2. The fuel pump fuse (fuse 1) tends to blow whenever i try a hot start.

3. I fitted a new stereo (totally non-invasive and hidden behind the passenger seat as i don't want to take away any originality), however the sound keeps cutting out after a few minutes. I had assumed it was the stereo, but am now wondering if the speaker impedance is being effected somehow via the ground connection.

I thought about the following fixes:

1. just connect the ground of the blower motor to another ground connection (there seems to be another one on the blower casing, although i'm not sure what its for).

2. Get the engine hot the unplug the fuel pump, then see if it'll hot start (hopefully it should just catch on whats in already in the system before cutting out). Which will tell me if it's a faulty pump.

3. Test the stereo in another car, if it works okay, ebay it and buy a battery powered hifi.

However, I'm now beginning to wonder if they are all part of a larger, or related issue. A short somewhere in the system.

I'd love to have you're thoughts on the matter, before I start tearing out any wires.

Many thanks

Chris

  ASI Radio PCB and potentiometer
Posted by: GDTDMC12 - 17 Apr 2017, 16:03 - Forum: 3 - Electrical - No Replies

Following damage sustained to my ASI Radio during shipping (for general refurbishment), despite great care taken with the packing, I am looking for the following part(s). If anyone can supply or know where to obtain these parts I would be very grateful for the information. I've looked at a similar BMW 1982 ASI radio but I'm told the similar part is not compatible so it seems I do need the DeLorean ASI radio part.

This is what happened, see the bent stems to which the knobs attach:

The right hand one has been repaired:

But the left hand one is beyond repair:

I am therefore looking for the left hand PCB and potentiometer as shown in the following three images:

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.

  Can the liners be rebored/honed?
Posted by: Dan Willis - 13 Apr 2017, 12:01 - Forum: 1 - Engine - Replies (1)

As above; I'm struggling to find a definitive yes or no. Mine need doing, or chucking. If they're chucked, the replacement costs is more than an engine (of similar vintage.. not a PRV persay).

  15% off Millers Nanodrive NT+ Top 3!
Posted by: oilman - 12 Apr 2017, 12:01 - Forum: Parts Suppliers - No Replies

Hi guys

So, we've had a lot of interest and a huge amount of positive feedback on Millers Oils new and improved Nanodrive NT+ range of motorsport oils since their launch. We've also noticed a fair few of you crying out for us to run an offer on them, and like the benevolent people that we are at Opies, we listened. We are pleased to announce that we will be offering 15% off the top 3 Millers Nanodrive CFS NT+ Oils!

This offer covers the 3 most popular viscosities in the range, just click on the one you're after to see all sizes and prices:

- Millers Oils NANODRIVE CFS 5w-40 NT+

- Millers Oils NANODRIVE CFS 10W-50 NT+

- Millers Oils NANODRIVE CFS 10w-60 NT+

All you need to do is enter the code: NANO15 at checkout to get 15% off. To clarify, this offer is for Millers top of the range CFS NT+ oils, not their standard CFS motorsport oils. This will be running for a limited time only, so make sure you get those orders in quick!

This discount cannot be used on trade orders.

Millers Oils range of NANODRIVE NT+ oils are getting some stellar reviews, and it's no surprise thanks to their new and improved ultra low friction additive package. Proven to reduce engine friction by a further 15% over and above their previous multi-award winning products, this sets them apart from the competition, providing increased levels of power and torque that are immediately noticable. Simply put, the NT+ range has been developed from the ground up to offer the highest levels of protection and improved efficiency for high performance engines.

With free shipping to Mainland UK on orders over £60, it's a great time to get serviced and prepped in time for summer, with track days and events of all sorts looming. One last time, that code is NANO15 and is running for a limited time only. If there's anything else you need, just give us a call on 01209 202 944 or drop us an email to sales@opieoils.co.uk.
