4th gear won't engage |

Hi all,
After putting my car back together last week, and now the snow is finally gone, I thought I'd take it out for a drive.
Drives well - no issues apart from the gearbox - for some reason 4th gear will not engage
It's like the gear is not there at all - no grinding etc just feels like theres nothing there - like a wall, so you can even move the stick toward the gear.
I tried taking the centre console top off as the car has a weird metal gaitor, just to make sure it wasn't that, and to check if anything was stuck in the linkage at the gear stick end but it all looked ok.
All the other gears work fine without issue - no slipping etc
Any ideas? It doesn't stop me driving it as I can skip it, but it would be good to get it sorted! I'll have to get it on some ramps to have a look underneath when I have a chance.
Cheers!

Clutch reservior access panel questions |

Hi all,
I thought if I end up having to refurbish my master cylinder, I'll also want to change the hose from the reservoir to the cylinder.
The issue I first have is that one of the rivnuts is spinning (awkward one on bottom right of panel) - I've bought a special countersink end cutter to help me remove it - need to get the screw out first though.
The question I have is - why are there foam gaskets and a load of sealant around this panel?
I've been told that was done in the factory, but why does this panel need foam gaskets and sealant? Is it to stop petrol fumes from entering the front storage area?
Seems like overkill with the above and the number of screws, but I assume there must be a good reason.
Cheers!

Clutch master cylinder - resleeving worth it? |

Hi all,
I posted on the other threas on rebuild kits about getting new seals for my girling master cylinder.
I was wondering if it worth getting the unit resleeved? There is a company called pastparts that do it, but wanted to know if anyone else has done it before?
I'm not sure what the state of the inside of the master cylinder will be, hence looking at this.
Cheers!

Vin #1373 - it's running again! |

Hey all,
Reassembled the engine yesterday in the garage (had some electric heaters on full blast so was actually alright).
Turned the key and car started first time
For people that might not know, my clutch slave went a couple of weeks ago, so thought it would be a good time to take the car down to the valley (!) to change the distributor cap, rotor arm, leads, plugs and put new bolts in for all the ones I removed as I went (with a great mate - always good to do it with another pair of eyes and arms!).
Considering I've only had the car since the end of November, I didn't think I'd be doing such a job so soon, but it was good fun (apart from the clutch slave, that was a pain in the ass to change even with the intake off!)
Succesfully replaced all of the above - very happy to get it running again. Needs more work in the idle department, but that's a job for another day!
The rotor arm was in a right state (pictures on another thread), the cap only had one clip so wasn't flat, and a couple of the plugs were only finger tight! They were all gapped well past 1mm as well - not really sure how the car actually managed to start at all before!

After:
Thanks to all who helped with advice etc - appreciated!

DeLorean News Issues 78 & 79 |

Pleased to announce that two issues (78 & 79) have been posted out today and weather permitting should be with everyone by the weekend. Apologies for the delay on 78 but I took the decision to hold back to send two issues together as due to a set of 3d glasses being sent out for issue 79 it worked out much more cost effective (postage wise) to send them both together.
Anyway I'm sure Eddie would appreciate feedback (as would we all) on your thoughts on these two issues. As always my thanks to Eddie and the contributors to the magazines........ However we always need more articles, please feel free to put pen to paper (or fingers on keys) and let us have your articles.

Delorean's in the west midlands |

Hi everyone, Just thought I would put this question out to the forum, in the hope that I
can get a pointer in the right direction to find what i'm looking for.
I am looking for Delorean owners in the midlands who would be interested (for a price of course)
to give up a couple of hours of their time to give my Delorean mad son a ride out as a passenger
and then drive him to his school prom. This would be his dream, and would not just make his year,
It would make his life. Any help with this would be more than welcome.
Thanks
Keith
