Dear Delorean Owners Club (UK), I am just emailing you with regard to the annual Cork Car Show that we are running here at the Cork International Hotel on Sunday 2nd April 2019. In the past 2 years we have raised over €16000 for Bumbleance, the National Children’s Ambulance Service which we could not have done without the support of the amazing participating car and bike clubs. We had such a great turn out of cars and bikes and we were incredibly grateful in particular to the Car Clubs who really jumped on board to support the event and brought groups along. This is a short video from last year’s show – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wslXWowHlWU After 2 years with the great team of Bumbleance, we are now going to be supporting another children’s charity which is the Rainbow Club for Autism. We are running the car show on Sunday 2nd April 2019 and it will be run as a family fun day. Our kind neighbours at Cork Airport are giving use of the long term carpark which is accessed via our hotel for the weekend. The plan is to run the event from 11am-4pm on the Sunday. Adults will be €5 entry and children will be free. We will have various activities over the day including some outdoor music if the weather is on our side. For those that wish to arrive on the Saturday evening, we will have live music and some complimentary finger food for exhibitors. We will obviously have security in the car park as it is a secure zone being part of the airport so cars can park there from the Saturday afternoon. I just wondered if you would be able to circulate this to your members and revert back to me with a guide number of exhibitors. I am just looking to initially get an expression of interest before I compile a list of competitors and exhibitors for the show. After you revert to me, I will then send you through a booking form so that we can get each cars details for the show in advance. I look forward to hearing from you and really hope that you will be able to support our charity event this year. With Kindest Regards,
Subject: CARS at the SPA
The first “Cars at the Spa” is being held at the Pump Room Gardens, on Sunday 30th. June 2019, set in the heart of the regency spa town of Leamington. Adjacent to the Royal Pump Rooms (CV32 4AA) and beside the shopping area known for its small individual shops in addition to the larger multiples, it offers an interesting day out.
The Rally itself is open to any classic vehicles with an emphasis on those over 25 years old. As this is the first event of its kind entries will be limited so it is advisable to book a place early to be sure of being accepted.
Please refer to the attachments for full details of the Event, along with the entry forms. If appropriate, please forward this email and the attachments to your members or return the booking form, £5 booking fee and a stamped self-addressed C5 sized envelope to Cars at the Spa 10, Guys Cliffe Avenue, Leamington Spa, CV32 6LY.
If you have a question about the event please use our website contact page. www.carsatthespa.co.uk.
Thank you.
Pleased to write issue 82 of the club mag has been sent out today, apologies for the delay we were looking at getting this out before Xmas but we missed the deadline for Xmas close-down. Non the less it's the first magazine (and hopefully not the last!) produced by our new Editor Matthew Clark so I'm sure he would appreciate feedback. Thanks to all the contributors.
Chris
As you know I recently had my seats retrimmed by Lee Pattison. I just wanted to share with you all the work I saw, that ultimately made the decision for me to get my seats to him.
Lee is able to perform repairs to the dashboard, binnacle, centre console, driver and passenger side kneepads, rear quarter panels & side bolsters where these items have discoloured and cracked due to sun damage. He is also able to recover your steering wheel and seats.
Lee also has off cuts of original material from CP Trim, so is able to perform invisible repairs to some small items (see the centre console picture for an example), for larger items such as the passenger kneepad, he is able to mimic the rouching with great effect.
The piece de resistance however is the NOS material Lee has, which enable him to produce OE seat covers, these look and feel bang on to the originals and to a quality you will simply not find anywhere else for any price.
Below are some examples of Lees work on different parts of the DeLorean interior.

I've been watching this guys youtube channel recently, look what he's just bought... oh and he is a DeLorean fan.
Check out his other videos, including one where he compares a DeLorean and a Bricklin.
One thing that’s bugged me since I got 11477 roadworthy was the lack of sounds.
Don’t get me wrong - I’ve enjoyed without any radio, I enjoy driving the D.
But having a non functioning radio is annoying. So I wanted to address that.
Enter the Retrosound Santa Barbara. I toiled for a few months over this as I’ve read reviews fitted to DeLoreans and the older model 1 didn’t seem great. But this newest model seems to have it sorted.
On to the fitting.... firstly I removed the old ARA tape deck which I’d hoped to have used but there was literally no saving it. Static was loud and tapes extremely quiet.
I was presented with a load of disgusting wiring..... and yes those scotch locks had to go!!!
As you can see in this next pic, the 80s aftermarket radio installer scotch locked the ARA’s loom to the ASI loom. Naaaaaaasty.
The old ARA “professional series”
Scotch locks removed and loom is now tidy.
Time to unbox the radio to see what I’m dealing with.....(pictured with the ASI loom)
The ASI loom is now soldered and insulated to the ISO loom supplied with the radio.
Also the ignition and constant feed soldered to the other side of the ISO plug.
Then the radio could be built. All quite easy, but time consuming as you need to line up the spindles with the old radio and bend the brackets to fit in the car.
Further adjustment was made when fitting to the car.
I used the supplied fascia behind the dash in order to fill the gap for the smaller radio face.
Then used the ARA radio face to finish the look.
I’m really pleased with this. Not least because I now have 4 functioning speakers, DAB radio, 2 aux inputs, Bluetooth music streaming, hands free calling, usb flash drive input and 32,000 colour options for the screen!!! (I opted for green lol)
And the radio saves the colour option and the radio presets once power is removed from the car. So it’s perfect when hibernating your D!
All in all. I love it..... can’t wait to fit my newly recovered (Lee Pattison) seats and go for a drive!!!
This, this what makes the Craig radio display work...
I was sitting in my shed, soldering wires to the LED display, when I slipped with my soldering iron and burnt my hand.
When the pain had subsided I had a vision in my head, a vision of this:
The Craig Radio LED Display Ribbon Cable
It's taken nearly fifteen years and almost my entire family fortune to realise the vision of that.......oh wait.
Here it is folks. It really has taken fifteen years to get this done - time flies
I wanted one of these for my own Craig radio, but I've had to have a run made to make it even close to viable.
They are almost identical to the originals (right down to the part number!) apart from one key difference, they are slightly longer.
The reason for that is so that the cable can be routed in front of the display hinge pin instead of behind it. That increases the bending radius of the cable so it is less prone to folding and should last much, much longer.
The cable is soldered onto the back of the display, so that means you will need to have good soldering skills, if you overheat the contacts on the cable, they will de-laminate and the cable will be damaged.
There is potential in the not too distant future to offer some form of replacement 'service' for those unable to do this themselves, the exact form that will take I'm not sure right now.
I'm offering up these for sale for anyone who wants to replace the cable on their display so they can once again have a fully illuminated display (assuming all the LEDs work) and not be fearful of using the cassette door.
Price is 30 GBP each including shipping to anywhere in the world.
If you want one, PM me and I'll give you my email address. You might not hear back from me instantly, I don't sit in front of my computer all day
My engine conversion required larger fans and with them a new shroud, so this frees these up for an owner that would like a no longer available original OEM shroud. The OEM shroud as per the photos will clean up well as they are no cracks/missing chunks.
These quality high performance fans utilize the latest state-of-the-art electric motors, each delivering 1248 cubic feet per minute (CFM) of air flow per the manufacturers data sheet while demanding only 7.0 amps maximum power each at full motor load. For comparison, the stock fans taken out of our personal car were measured at a total CFM of 1100 for BOTH fans. In addition, the new fan blades are made from modern injection molded plastic and each unit weighs 34.4 ounces, including all bolts, nuts, and washers. The original fans (motor and blade only) weigh 48.6 ounces each. The weight reduction is just under 2 pounds total. The 10 blades on these fans produce a higher pitch whooshing sound but are quieter overall than the original 4-bladed fans.
The 2 stand-alone fan assemblies come ready to be bolted into your existing DeLorean fan shroud. And plug directly into the DeLorean wiring connectors without any adapters or wiring changes. Also included are detailed installation instructions and our exclusive Wings-B-Cool™ Fans feature a limited lifetime warranty.
Please note, I needed the plugs from the fans so you'll need to add the plugs from your old fans or source new ones.
I'm offering the OEM shroud and fans as per the photos for £190 inc free delivery within the UK
Hi everyone!
I'm currently looking for a DeLorean, which I'm planning a Time Machine conversion (I know it's not to everyone's taste) that won't damage the car. It's taking some planning but I've got a few ideas.
Don't have a car yet but I'm hoping to be in the £25k region (Everything seems to be top whack at the moment though). I'll be searching for an 81 manual with grooved hood and grey - hopefully. Not after a minter, but something that's doesn't need too much work.
Anyway I'm hoping to make some good contacts and help where I can.
