  Ormskirk Motofest August 30th 2015
Posted by: bjbrownie - 31 Aug 2015, 21:06 - Forum: Northern England - Replies (2)

Another Motorfest which is brilliant yet again, more cars & motorbikes on display, the weather was kind to us,sunny in the morning and overcast in the afternoon but stayed dry-this event gets bigger every year and there are vehicles to suit every taste (even strange tastes!),the towns shops and bars were open and an almost summer fete atmosphere was in the air.
The DeLorean had its fair share of admirers and fingerprints,I was kept busy giving out information about the car/company/scandal in particular order, it just seemed to depend on the age of the enquirer-almost got to the end of the day without a single flux capacitor joke, then got 3 in a row!
Awesome day with some fantastic cars, you really need to be here to enjoy this type of petrolhead event!

  Real life Gran Turismo!!
Posted by: bjbrownie - 31 Aug 2015, 20:49 - Forum: Off topic talk, general chat etc - Replies (3)

At this years Ormskirk Motorfest, I felt very privileged to do a circuit with some real super cars with the De Lorean-on the 'starting grid' it was like the console game 'Gran Turismo',in front of my De Lorean was a Lancia Delta Integrale, a Mitsubishi Evo 8, a Ferrari, Lotus Cortina mk1 and behind was a Noble and an AC Cobra!
Even though the 1 mile parade circuit was supposedly 20 mph, it was more like Le Mans as the cars in front of me disappeared! I took a steady pace in the De Lorean, you're always checking driving in case a member of the public/stray dog/ etc could walk across the road at any time, the Town Crier was standing in the road to wave the cars past with just over a cars width between him and the kerb!
Great fun,and gets better every year-the DeLorean drew quite a crowd and I was kept busy talking about the car by an enquiring public-got a few leads on various DMC related things, even heard of a local company that supplied the chassis and had a number left over when DMC went bust, there were a few hundred chassis that got cut up for scrap.....

Belfast BTTF DMC made out of photographs! June 2015
Posted by: bjbrownie - 25 Aug 2015, 22:10 - Forum: Back To The Future - Replies (1)

This may have slipped in under the radar-did anyone else see this mock up at the Belfast Photo Festival in June of this year? I came across it by chance, these photographers 'constructed' a BTTF car using photos attached to aluminium plates (stainless too heavy I guess!) joined together to make a composite image of the car.
A good effort, not too sure about the front end!

DeLorean/s wanted. East Grinstead Area. 5th Sept 2015
Posted by: Chris Williams - 25 Aug 2015, 15:58 - Forum: TV/Film Hire and Work Requests - Replies (5)

Hi
Hope you can help? I am wondering if you had an members of the Delorean owners club (who live locally to us) would be willing to help us out. I help out with a small company in East Grinstead West Sussex called Cinestock. We put on open air cinema / Live local music, showing classic films during the late summer to aid local good causes and charity's.

We finish off each season by taking over the main high street of East Grinstead and putting on a free film (Last year we did E.T). This year on the 5th September, we are looking to show the classic 80's film "Back to the future". If possible we would love to have a couple of DMC-12's either side of the screen.

As it is a free showing, we couldn't offer free tickets, but I can assure the owners a seat in the VIP area, and the cars will be roped off and looked after.

Therefore would it be possible for you to e-mail any members in the East Grinstead, Crawley, Tunbridge wells, Brighton area, If they are willing to help to contact the main event organiser, Oliver Tully by phone or text on 07752 355788.

If you need any further information or have any further question, Please contact Oliver or myself, we will be happy to answer.

Best Regards
Vince

Coventry Motor Museum Meet (poss) 24th October 2015
Posted by: Chris Williams - 25 Aug 2015, 09:47 - Forum: Midlands - Replies (2)

Barrie Wills has approached myself and Al to see what interest there would be in holding a display of Delorean cars in front of the Coventry motor museum. Some will be aware we have attended as a club on a few occasions the last being in 2009: viewtopic.php?f=61&t=2857 I have pasted the original email below and as you can see the original suggestion was for BTTF day.
I have suggested to Barrie that this week is 'possibly' not the best week to try and organise a DeLorean gathering due to the amount of BTTF events that are going on and the fact a lot of people will have prior hire jobs that week (inc myself) plus being the end of October some people will be stopping using cars for the winter.
Anyway if any one can do this event then please let myself or Alistair know either on this forum or the other (depending on where your reading it) and we can let Barrie know if there is any interest.

Chris

Chris/Alistair

I have been asked by the chief executive and curator of the newly refurbished and expanded Coventry Transport Museum to approach you both to explore whether either, or both, of your clubs might wish to work with the museum to create a celebration of the DeLorean car to coincide with the BTTF day on Wednesday 21 or on the following Saturday.

As you may be aware, the frontage of the museum has space for up to 80 cars. The museum also wishes to put the car (perhaps smartened up!) in its possession, back on display with revised and enhanced display panels to recognise its Coventry association, along with the BTTF link and anniversary.

I'm conscious your club, Chris, is holding a gathering in Norfolk this weekend. This might allow you to seek an early consensus and response. The Museum wishes to attract a lot of publicity. If it goes ahead, I might use the event as a means to publicly launch my book, John Z, the DeLorean & Me.

Let me know your response as soon as you can, please.

Best regards

Barrie
