Stephen Wynne talks about the new DMC and his Liverpool roots!
Posted by: bjbrownie - 18 Feb 2016, 21:37 - Forum: General Discussions on the DOC / Car / Company / JZD - No Replies

Old news now I suppose, but there was a feature in my local paper The Liverpool Echo on the 7th February with the owner talking about various stuff-interesting to see that he only went to the states in 1980 to get a better life for himself and  his family, didn't think he'd be owning DMC back then!
Look it up on the net ( can't do a link) there's a virtual tour around DMC Houston.
While at the Ormskirk Motorfest year before last, a chap I got talking to said he was Mr Wynnes cousin and said that he was looking to open a dealership in the NorthWest of England sometime in the near future .......hmmmm ??

DeLorean Required for Magazine, Dunmurry, March
Posted by: Chris Williams - 17 Feb 2016, 17:40 - Forum: TV/Film Hire and Work Requests - No Replies

Chris

We're currently pulling together a big feature on the DMC-12 and DeLorean more broadly for issue 156 of Octane magazine, which goes on sale 27 April.

At the heart of the feature will be a drive story written by John Simister, for which we'd like to take a DMC-12 for a spin on the roads around Dunmurry, and back to the site of the DeLorean factory.

We'd be after action shots and still photography. Hopefully we can get the latter on the DeLorean test track; we've spoken to Montupet and are waiting to hear whether they'll grant us access.

Critically, at the moment we don't have a car lined up. We're looking for a DMC-12 that hasn't been monkeyed with too much over the years, but which is smart enough inside and out to be photographed for a big feature, and which can be driven (sensibly and not a vast distance!) by John Simister.

Is there any Club member (perhaps somebody who lives reasonably close to Dunmurry) who might be kind enough to offer their car for the story?

We would insure the car for the duration of the shoot (it would take a full day), and ideally the owner would be able to join us for the shoot, to help with action photography.

We'd provide the owner with the full set of images, and of course with magazines once the issue has printed.

We're aiming for one of the following dates for the shoot:
– Tuesday 15 March
– Wednesday 16 March
– Thursday 17 March
– Friday 18 March (not ideal but we'd make it work if necessary)
– Weekend of 19-20 March (we'd choose to avoid this if possible, simply because it may be harder to get access to the test track at the weekend)
– Any day week commencing 21 March

If this sounds of interest, please could you get in touch as soon as you have a moment?

Many thanks,
Chris Bietzk

  DeLorean seen at power wash!
Posted by: bjbrownie - 15 Feb 2016, 19:15 - Forum: General Discussions on the DOC / Car / Company / JZD - Replies (2)

Saw this on one of my favoured Facebook sites, Cars & Coffee (Liverpool), some brave soul power washing his DMC-watch those door seals! ?
Around Ormskirk apparently, and no, it's not Chris Evan's new ride!

  VIN 2703
Posted by: igb - 14 Feb 2016, 22:09 - Forum: Members Cars - Replies (14)

After looking at a few Deloreans over the past 2 months, I am purchasing VIN 2703. The formalities of purchase should complete this week, and then it should soon be on its way.

Thanks to the forum and especially to Chris Williams and Dave Howarth for all their advice when I have been looking at various cars.

This one is a dry car, kept garaged all its life, and is run about once a week by the present owner. 5 speed manual, black interior, grooved hood with gas flap. Aug 81.

A 3 owner car. Checked out the details as far as I can and they seem to match with what the current owner says

I'm hoping I have made the right choice, as I currently don't have time for a project car.

Not done this kind of thing before, the forum advice has been very valuable. I may need your help going forward.

Ian

  Save the SRN4 Hovercraft!
Posted by: dclsteve - 09 Feb 2016, 22:17 - Forum: Off topic talk, general chat etc - No Replies

I don't usually do this sort of thing but....being a bit of a geek I saw on the TV that the SRN4's that were used on the cross channel link are in danger of being destroyed.   British through and through, they need saving.  They are parked up at the hovercraft museum in Lee on Solent at the moment -  http://www.hovercraft-museum.org/  - they have a donation/petition thing going which hopefully will make a difference.  If you feel like I do about good old machines - which is why we are daft enough to have the Delorean - sign the petition!
