Trailing arm shims wanted
#1
My car is having its wheels aligned next week now Ive put new track rod ends on, so I'd like to go armed with a few shims in case the rears are a bit out. Does anyone have some kicking about that I could borrow and/or buy if I end up needing them?

Cheers.

I had it aligned this morning and they had shims on the shelf, so I don't need these now. Big Grin

PDF page 12, Manual page 10

3mm toe in PER WHEEL.

Same for front and rear wheels.

Try and get a full geometry done but if not do a 4 wheel to centreline (checking thrust angles) at least.

A 2 wheel alignment, or 2 wheel to centreline is not enough.

I had a full geometry check done on saturday. It took 4 shims on one side and 1 on the other to bring the rear into spec. Their computer system had the Delorean on it! My castor was out though which is strange, no way of adjusting that though, but it doesn't seem to be affecting anything. The difference in feel after the alignment is amasing, and the steering wheel is now straight when I go in a staight line which makes a change

If it drives nice then enjoy it Smile

As long as you don't get bump steer I would leave it as it is.

You could have a look at:

if you are interested.

This place in Maldon: http://www.super-tyres.co.uk/index.html

They have Delorean on the alignment computer. Its an american system so thats probably why its on there. Really clever system. It works by constantly taking pictures of plates that clamp onto the wheels.

Hi

Shouldnt the toe in be different from stock on the front, because of the lowered springs?

Why would having lower springs mean the toe should be different?

It showed on the computer that my front camber was more than it should be by a little and that was put down to the lowering springs.

Are you still going to pop over somtime Alastair with that magazine and that?

Nice funky wheel trims there Smile

As the car is lowered the camber adjusts slightly..., there are some adjustable lower rear link arms available on cars that need this adjustment due to uneven tyre wear .... mine is still within spec though
