1959 CADILLAC HEARSE/AMBULANCE
#16
Heh, cheers. They're a lot of fun to build if you can spare the time... I sold it for just over £1k and I reckon if you count man hours, that was still at a loss.

I'd love to tackle a BTTF car one day, but I'd have to make 100% right, and that might drive me mad...

i doubt any one to be able to get any prop or movie car right it would be too sad to sit and watch films over and over untill ya spot something different about the car or prop nd then you got to change it again it is too time consumming i found this out long ago doing my knightrider replica its too much off a pain in the ass

theres nothing wrong in doing replica things but you got to draw a line between being 100% and having the prop or car how you want it to look

Cool car, its on the wish list for me too! Smile

I think tho, if I was gonna have a yank tank, it would have to be the
Chevrolet Bel Air - a '55 or a '57 tho, the '56 doesnt do it for me as much
as the other two. I just love the front of the '57, its one of the prettiest
cars of the time for me.

As Glen suggested, I have indeed found a 59 Caddy miller meteor. Its currently in Maryland being restored back to its former glory and then on to the Ghostbusters specification. It took me ages to track one down and it is a bit of a wreck but it runs and drives ok. Someone did lop the roof off to turn it into a parade car, but fins and all still remain. The roof is being refabricated as we speak by a garage in Maryland. I found a 'pimp my ride' style garage that deals with classic car renovations as well as bespoke body conversions, so this should be their cup of tea! (famous last words). There is a 59 caddy ambulances for sale at the volo car museum in Illinois. It is at $150k, although it is immaculate and basically as new if anyone is interested. They also have the actual men in black police car for sale at only £4k! I will be bringing the Caddy back hopefully in the summer to rent out as an alternatve to limousines. It can hold 6 people. I just need somehwere to store it as it is 22 ft long and over 6ft wide :? ............

I found this company ( Kar Performance Auto Group ) who will find, restore and convert one into the Ecto1.
They're a US company but apparently have a facility in Milton Keynes, & they will make it and import it to the UK for a cool £68,000 !!!! :o
Their web site is
http://www.karperformanceautogroup.com/gallery_ii

But I have no idea how reputable they are...... Oh yeh you have to pay up front so they have money to spend on it!! :?
