that would be the best way to kickstart it, plus if we advertise it enough through the mag and other sites it should stay active enough

All about handling personal data. Something something Data Protection Rules.

So for example, if the Club, or anyone from it, were to pass on my personal details (eg address, pone number etc) to somebody who I didn't wish to have them, without my permission, then those rules would have been breached.

I can't imagine there's anyone much in that situation, but there are rules governing these things.

So if you and I are ADDED to the same Whatsapp group, then I can see your phone number, which might go against your wishes.

However my thought has been that if people are INVITED to join a Whatsapp group (by sending them a link), then nobody else gets to see their phone number until l they have accepted that invitation - which there is no obligation for them to do, of course. But by accepting the Invitation there is literal consent to thereby share phone number with others on the group.

It would have to be done centrally (prob from Chris W?) as I assume he would have the definitive list of current members and their numbers.

I think for groups now you're able to hide your number, noticed an option for it while I was looking into stuff on the communities thing. not sure if you can apply that option before joining a group though
