DeLorean's For Sale On Ebay, Updated as They Appear.
#61
Chris P Wrote:Not necessarily a bad one. But in any case as the seller is not prepared to assist it getting it shipped to the UK, so unless you have a good friend in the US, to sort it all for you it could be very difficult to get it home.
Shouldn't be too difficult, Trans Global Shipping took care of the pickup/collection of mine to transport it down to the docks in Long Beach. Cost me a few hundred $ if I recall correctly.

Just repeating what the seller said to me. "I only want to sell it to an American buyer."

I would have thought with the condition it seems to be in, that the seller would want to get it as far away from home as possible.

I suspect it is the absence of a wiring harness, rather than a starter, that renders it a "project car". That, and whatever other parts he has taken off and lost, or doesn't work.

Hi

this appears to be a good buy at present.
the wiring would not be too bad to sort, the other items again not too bad.
buyer though should set aside some £££ incase the engine needs a rebuild or gearbox.

a bit short sighted not to sell to other countries. as he could get a better price.
i will be looking for a car when i get funds together (maybe later in year) and i would have been interested in this one.
the USA sale only perhaps could be got over if you know someone over there.

He doesn't sound very friendly, and a feedback score of only 92%.

on the up side it looks sound like a dry state car, little rust and the panels look quite straight. the upholstery can easily be recovered, The missing engine wouldn't be a massive issue so long as you get the transmission too (see questions)... shoe horning another engine into the car would be possibility...there are lots of alternative V6 engines that could be mated to the transmission using adapter plates...maybe even a small block V8 too.... the difficult bit is the engine management system and getting the instruments like the rev counter to work with another engine/ecu....if it was here in blighty, then I would be there like a shot

I have rebuilt and modified much worse.
Wait, you mean to say you built a time machine out of a DeLorean?!!

Biker, your avatar looks very familiar, pic taken at Tatton Park ??

Thinking its either my car or RichH's, as we both have cars with the wide side stripe Wink

Doesn't the sun do an awful lot of damage ?

Seems a shame to scrap it. I predict that will be looked on as pure sacrilege in a few years…when you can't find a fixer-up for love nor money.

Looks a nice car to me..providing the chassis is OK, which I would guess it is, judging by the rest of the photo's.

Hi all

anyone looking at it, take a good look at the repair work to chassis.

as we know this can be where the car rusts...and its not always easy or a cure just to cut out a section and tack weld in!. They are structural and the repair needs to be done right.

I m not saying it has not been...just worth looking at in detail, as a frame off will cost quite a few £££ if you don't diy.

almost certainly if it has been stripped will need a rebrush...not sure what this is these days, I would think around £500-£1000?.
seats £400, binnacle say £250.

may make a good buy at the right price.
