Yeah only by a few mm, but it meant to get a good seal you had to take the fuel tank coverplate off from under the car, install the sender and then screw the cover plate back on, this allowed you to make use of the flex in the tank to accomodate the extra few mm. not ideal.

I understand the new sender has been updated in both its overall length and it now has around 12 level incroments which makes for a much more accurate reading.

Thanks for that James. My tank has a new type DMCH sender in it now, it seemed to go in fine, we shall see when I fill it up with petrol if its ok, but I'm sure it is.
