Forum update for language support. Prob Tues 14 Jan sometime
Posted by: NickT - 14 Jan 2007, 19:20 - Forum: Forum Updates and Advice - Replies (1)

To all,

Probably Tuesday daytime, (depending on work of course,) I will be installing language support to this forum for our European friends.

This will initialy be for Dutch, French and German.

The languages available are on :

http://www.phpbb.com/downloads.php#lang

If you would like a language installing that is not specified please send me an email and I will add it.

I will have to lock the forum as I perform this install so please be patient as I perform this task.

Regards,

NickT.

  Stainless Exhaust
Posted by: Outatime - 14 Jan 2007, 12:28 - Forum: DeLorean Cars or Parts For Sale or Wanted - Replies (16)

Doubt anyone will be selling anyway, but I thought I'd ask!

If anyone wants to sell their stainless-exhaust, either due to another upgrade or whatever reasons, please could you give me a shout!? As I can't really afford the brand new exhaust price, but a 2nd hand might do 8)

P.S. I don't mind having just the manifold + middle pipe bits, as I can get the back box made up easily.

Thanks!

Eurofest DVD by Frederick van Acker
Posted by: bttf brian - 13 Jan 2007, 18:51 - Forum: DeLorean Cars or Parts For Sale or Wanted - Replies (28)

Hi guys

Just received a copy of Frederik's Eurofest DVD and it is absolutely STUNNING!. Seen through the eyes of the Belgian contingent it gives a fantastic insight into what Eurofest was like with great footage of the cars, the venues and the people involved including some archive film. I was expecting a home movie type DVD but Frederik obviously knows what he's doing and boy has he done a good job. I would recommend that you all get a copy as it really is worth seeing ( He hasn't paid me to say this by the way!). Well done Frederik, you really have done the event justice

  Practical Classics Price 'Guide'
Posted by: Chris Williams - 11 Jan 2007, 22:23 - Forum: Off topic talk, general chat etc - Replies (1)

I remember a good few months back someone (possibly Mike) approached most if not all of the Classic car mags to get them to update and put sensible valuation guides for the Delorean in there Magazines. I think most did, However Practical Classics has had a change of Layout/format this month and unfortunatly has reverted back to the old valuations. Just wondering if they should be prompted again with the correct info.

Not planning on selling, just dont like to see things wrong!

SunStar Models - And what they're made of !
Posted by: Birksie - 11 Jan 2007, 20:05 - Forum: Off topic talk, general chat etc - Replies (16)

Right, I did hear somewhere that someone was interested in what these SunStar model were made of, and more importantly are they true to life and made from Stainless Steel grade 304, or 18/8 as its known in the trade.
The quick answer is no.
The long answer is here:

Using my XRF-Analyzer, shown here:

I gathered my subjects up ready for testing:

Gun in position:

Pulled the trigger, and proceeded to bombard my skull with lethal Xrays. Shock

And there you have it.
Mostly Nickle, Zinc and Copper, with slither traces of Cobalt, Iron and Chrome. Could be plated, so results may not be that accurate. Unless someone wants to donate a model for me to grind away ! Big Grin

Zinc plated Copper Nickle is what your cars are made of in my opinion.
