  Installing outer door seals.
Posted by: Barson - 24 Jun 2007, 19:54 - Forum: 8 - Frame / Body / Interior - Replies (5)

I've just received some replacement seals for my doors.

They're the outer door seals that I'm interested in replacing.

I got the ones from Hervey which came with the sticky back plastic on the backs of them (which I'm not too keen on). the originals which I removed look to have been installed with something like tiger seal.
What did you guys use to stick the seals onto the body?

I have a feeling that positioning of these things is critical if they're to (i) allow the door to shut properly (ii) form a proper seal against the door and prevent weather penetration.

Any advice before I proceed with installation?

Turbo (or Super) AND HP cams.
Posted by: Barson - 24 Jun 2007, 18:05 - Forum: 1 - Engine - Replies (9)

I remember reading a post (can't remember who said it or where it was), but the person was saying that you can't have both turbo and higher cams on the same block.
I can't remember why this was so.
Is there a very simple reason why this wouldn't work?

does it all come down to timing/fuelling issues? (efi?)

Did I dream it?

NickT - Notice of Resignation of Forum Administrator.
Posted by: NickT - 24 Jun 2007, 15:23 - Forum: General Discussions on the DOC / Car / Company / JZD - Replies (14)

To All,

Although not an official role, I am giving ample notice that I will be resigning from Administering this forum.

I am glad that this new style of forum has been welcomed by the club members and has so far been reliable and stable since the last domain transfer. I have put any relevant security updates on to the date of this post.

From now until the AGM, I shall only be performing weekly backups of the databse (, although of course I will perform disaster recovery of the forum if required until then). I already have implemented web based forum backups/ restoration procedures on both the FTP and MySQL databases. I shall pass this information along with all security usernames/ passwords/ hosting access on to the next person who I shall immediately promote to Admin status.

Although I am resigning from this role, I shall still continue to help people with any technical related issues related to the DeLorean car.

If anyone expresses an interest in the position of the Forum Administrator/ moderator then please contact the club secretary.

Regards,

NickT.

Group, these may or not interest some of you. A couple of items I have listed on Ebay that are now redundant due to a stage 2 engine upgrade. All are in perfect working order from a 12k mile car, kept in very good order all it's life both in the US and the UK.

Frequency valve with Brand new S/S hoses;
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... &rd=1&rd=1
if link does not work item number is;180133230441

Fuel distributor/metering head and mixture control unit;
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... &rd=1&rd=1
again if link does not work item no;180133233888

If any one is interested I also have a set of stock pistons/liners and crank and a set pair of cylinder heads available if any one is in need of any or all, from the same engine (12k)

Thanks all.

Any of you run diesel engined Daily Drivers?
Posted by: Guinney1971 - 23 Jun 2007, 01:02 - Forum: Off topic talk, general chat etc - Replies (13)

Hiya,

Any of you running diesel cars (obviously not DeLoreans!) with indirect injection diesel engines (and Bosch - not Lucas - fuel pumps) may well be interested in this new piece of legislation Big Grin

http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/si/2007-1640-em.pdf

Check with the guys on http://www.vegetableoildiesel.co.uk/forum to see if your car is compatible.

If it is, you could be paying 49-60p a litre for fuel, rather then nearly £1 a litre for normal diesel!

Cheers,

  Top Gear Magazine
Posted by: mikesumner - 22 Jun 2007, 20:15 - Forum: General Discussions on the DOC / Car / Company / JZD - Replies (13)

I've just been reading my Top Gear Magazine and got to an article about the new Rolls-Royce Phantom Drophead Coupe.

In it it says that the team behind the car admit to having studied a DeLorean when designing the stainless steel bonnet that contrasts the painted bodywork.

Obviously the usual jibes are made about the DeLorean not being worthy of being involved in the development of a car like a Roller, but it's interesting to think that car designers are still aware of the D, and still look to it for inspiration all these years on.
