  Talking DeLorean with Steve Berry
Posted by: Darren C - 03 Sep 2021, 08:06 - Forum: General Discussions on the DOC / Car / Company / JZD - Replies (1)

Here's a little Radio interview I did recently with Steve Berry (ex Top Gear) that I thought you might enjoy as we talk all things Delorean

There's also a little teaser into something I've been up to over lockdown with Radford

Working with Lotus, we've found the keys, unlocked the doors, dusted off the cobwebs and re-opened the Specialist Vehicles Department at Hethel for the first time since the "Delorean Project" for an amazing new automotive adventure!

Enjoy

  Afternoon from Notts

Hi all forum members

Thought I would sign up and check the site out after talking to a few of you on Mondays meeting in Belper.

Really enjoyed seeing so many DMC's all in one place, I was like a kid in a candy store but without my pocket money.

I have been a massive fan of the cars being brought up in the 80s with of course Back to the Future which I had recorded from Ye Old Sky onto VHS and pretty much wore the tapes out. Then in later years became more and more interested in the man himself John Delorean and watched many documentaries about him. I have been lucky in my job as a Lorry Driver to go across to NI on many occasions and have been and visited the old plant in Dunmurry which I can just about get the lorry to turn around on the estate before the gate.

Anyway massive thanks to bringing all your pride and joys to Belper and hope to get to see them again soon at other events.

  Super fuel causing problems?
Posted by: Rissy - 31 Aug 2021, 08:53 - Forum: 1 - Engine - Replies (41)

On Sunday, I chose to add about £35 of Momentum 99 super fuel to the existing 1/3 of a tank of E5 Premium I still had left.  This was a choice over moving the car on to the Premium E10 replacement we've otherwise been forced to adopt.

2-3 weeks ago, the car was running all weekend flawlessly during the Silverstone event and the car has not been used since, until yesterday after refuelling on Sunday evening.

Now; as of yesterday with a 50:50 mixture of Premium and Momentum 99 in the tank, the car seems sluggish, especially at the upper end of the speed limit, and the car starts juddering, like mini bunny hopping at about 66mph in 5th gear.  If I push harder on the accelerator, it seems to push through this, but not to great avail because I'm having to have my foot hard down to try and maintain 70mph, particularly when going uphill.

Like I said, the only variable which has changed, is the fuel in the tank since the last time the car was running perfectly 2-3 weeks ago.  So i'm blaming fuel, and nervous at what 100% super fuel will bring me.  Will it even run at all!?

So I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this, and if so, how they've overcome it.  My thinking right now is that the super fuel has altered the timing of the combustion, meaning I may have to retard, or advance my timing at the dizzy to compensate.  Not sure which way right now, even if this is the solution.  At this point I'm just hoping the super fuel mixture hasn't cleaned and dislodged any "crap" in my fuel lines and deposited this into my injectors instead?

Any thoughts anyone?

  Hello from Sweden

Hi,

I bought a DeLorean in the fall of 2020, partially on a whim. I have wanted to get one for as long as have wanted to get any vehicle at all and I happened to be looking through used car listings and just stumbled over it, realized it was within my budget, and phoned up the seller to arrange a test drive. I have no regrets so far.

I began fixing up all the little issues (adjusting the gearshift, fixing the clock, and changing all the fluids and filters among other things) this summer and found this forum.

I'll probably post more stuff when I either have all these little things worked out or when I hit a problem  Tongue

Cheers!

Godalming Town Show and Carnival Sat 18 Sept 21
Posted by: Guinney1971 - 15 Aug 2021, 22:36 - Forum: Southern England - No Replies

I've had the following email, please get in touch with Guy if you are interested in attending.

Hi Claire,

I hope you might be able to help. I'm organising the Godalming Town Show and Carnival on behalf of Godalming Round Table. We run it entirely with volunteers with every penny raised goes to local charities and good causes. On previous years we've had nearly 4000 people attend, it is a great family event.

This year we are running it with a Sci fi theme, and was wondering if any of your members might be keen to come and support our event by being part of our Carnival?

If there is anyone who would, it would be really appreciated and I'm sure a real head turner in the midst of the parade.

If you think there is anyone, my contact details are 07811384848 and the Carnival starts at 11.45am on Saturday 18 September in Godalming, Surrey.

Thanks so much in advance!
Guy Wilby
Godalming Town Show Chairman

  DeLorean Chronology/Registry
Posted by: Citizen - 13 Aug 2021, 15:31 - Forum: Historical DeLorean articles, references, photos and information. - Replies (13)

Hello DOC-UK members.

As Administrator of the DeLorean Registry, we at the Texas DMC club believe our database is near complete with (currently) 8845 VINs and lots of attribute information about each car (configuration, engines swaps, paint, RHD, etc.).  Questions such as ‘How many VINs are in the UK’, and ‘How many are setup for RHD’ can be answered.

But, I am also in search of missing VINs, and attribute information for other VINs that we do have but don’t have information for.  This thread will be for posing updates (new and corrections) if you are so inclined.  I will monitor this thread for updates.

I also am the Administrator of the DeLorean Owners Directory (DOD), which is a database of VIN owner contact information provided by owners themselves on a completely volunteer basis.  The DOD contains the most up-to-date, verified, and accurate contact information out there, with over 1000 entries.  This modern list is a derivative of the original DeLorean directory created by James Espey (founder of DMC-News, the DeLorean Mailing List) back in 1995.  If you have not already joined, please do so at your convenience.  Thank you for your consideration.

Here is a quick list of links:

I’d also like to remind everyone that there is a DeLorean Mobile App for Android users.  It can be used to look up any VIN on file.  Additionally, if you are a member of the DOD, you can lookup contact information for other owners, and conduct direct VIN-to-VIN messaging with them.

The Mobile App has some other features, like displaying global statistics, and sending updates or messages/comments directly from your phone to the Administrator.  The world’s only DeLorean VIN Mobile App is offered free of advertisements, and you can get it free of charge Here.

Regards and thanks.

Hello DOC-UK members.

My name is Thomas Kidd.  I live in Houston, Texas, USA and I maintain the DeLorean Texas Club’s online Registry database, in coordination with Shannon Birdwell who maintains the DeLorean Chronology.  I also am the Administrator of the DeLorean Owners Directory (DOD), which is a database of VIN contact information provided by owners themselves on a completely volunteer basis.

I frequent DMCTalk.org, and I have visited DMC-UK as a guest numerous times, but only recently joined because I believe a number of VIN count questions can be answered that have been asked on this forum in the past.  Questions like:  How many VINs are in the UK, and how many are setup for RHD

Looking forward, I am also in search of missing VINs, and attribute information for VINs we do have listed but don’t have such information for.  So I will be starting a new thread in the appropriate place that I will monitor for updates.  Please watch for it, and if you would be so kind as to post your updates there.  I understand some people don’t wish to disclose such information, that’s perfectly ok too.

Thank you and regards to all friends across the pond.

Thomas Kidd

NEC Classic Car Show 2021, Nov 12-14 Nov 2021 & AGM Notification
Posted by: Chris Williams - 11 Aug 2021, 20:09 - Forum: DOC National Events, Car shows, AGM's and others - Replies (29)

Finally (today) the stands have been allocated for this years show. So as ever we are looking for cars and volunteers to help out over part or all of the event. Ideally we would like 3 cars on the stand. They have to be in place from the Thursday(11th) until the Sunday PM. We are positioned next to an entry/exit so should be easier at least!
I'm not sure how exactly the show will work with Covid restrictions but as a responsible club we will provide all necessary precautions and will follow the guidelines of the show organizers and Govt guidelines at the time.
Discounted tickets will be available and the discount code will appear in the next couple of club magazines.
Chris
