Bushes & replacements
#1
Was thinking about changing all of the bushes in the front suspension now that I had done the trailing arms (and front discs to be done) Has anyone done this with there car? Is it worth it? is there a poly upgrade available and is it worth it/where from? I'm guessing it's only the ones where the arms attach to the frame?
Thanks in advance peeps

Hi Chris
I changed my bushings and it made a great difference in handling and braking. I used poly bushing on lower arm and sway bar. Upper bushings are not available in poly yet.
feel free to see the process in this How-to article ;
http://delorean.fr/forum/viewtopic.php?t=404
and just did it for the rear end too ;

Hi Rapheal.
Thanks for that someone had kindly sent me the link to your page, so I had been using it for reference. Those new poly bushes do take some getting in though, I have found whenever I get the bushes in correct I then push the metal insert in and that pushes the bushes out again :roll:
Never mind it should be worth it in the end

here is the trick ;

insert one half bushing by hand

[Image: 3_1195833842.jpg]

before you put the second half, insert the tube (1 or 2mm is enoughh, just get it started ).

[Image: 3_1195833897.jpg]

then push the assembly on the link.

[Image: 3_1195833942.jpg]

here is the trick ; use a long bolt, a washer and nut and torque the insert through the bushing.

same for TAB bushing :

Hi Tony

Yes mate although I was actually having the problems getting the bushes into the lower front arms, although these pictures are very helpful. I'm 'intending' to do all the rear arms this winter with the poly bushes, but probably not the trailing arm ones as I cant afford these at the mo Cry However I will check them out when I replace the TAB's

Ive got a pile of the poly ones from Superflex that I am fitting over the winter too. You can get them from here tony: http://www.superflex.co.uk/results.php?m...&Search=Go

Part SPF2019 also fits the lower front arms with a tiny modification to the lip on the bush.

They are a good price Dan, I replaced every bushing with poly including the trailing arm...I had to replace the bolts mind at the same time, although I remember one anti roll bar bush set coming from DPNW.

I recommend it, you'll have to have a drive of mine round a few corners see what you think!

Chris, I was going to ask you what you have your Spax shocks set to?, how many clicks?

I have the DPNW kit for the anti roll bar too. The rest are superflex, the big trailing arms ones I am leaving rubber because its 100 quid just to replace them and I really cant see them making that much difference.

TAB Bushes...

Whats the best best for the trailing arm bushes one of mine has disitigrated and I have the new TABs and want to replace the bushes at the same time. another fun winter job :-)

I know Ed's are a little pricy about £160 but are they the best bet?

If you want UK sourced OEM ones then there are the same as Lotus Esprit S3 and onwards Radius Arm Bushes

About to order some Superflex ARB bushes, however it wants me to state the size I need. It says on the page it thinks I want a 19mm. Is this correct?
