flushing out the cooling system
#1
Kind of another "how to" needed really.

I want to flush through the cooling system on Maddie as its been doing funny things temperature wise the last few weeks.

I want to flush the system through and put in all new coolant.

Anyone got an idiots guide they wouldn't mind posting up?

Cheers guys

This is the method I use, if you remove the engine block drains out too you will see how much crap builds up in your cooling system...

Also this method ensures there is hardly any air in the system and therefore does not need lots of burping Smile

Probably different to any one else, but this is how I do/did it.
Disconnect the two water pipes just in front of the engine, underneath the car at the rubber pipes. this allows most of the coolant to drain out, shove a hose pipe with a tight seal, up one of the pipes heading towards the rad to reverse flush it out. Remove block drain plugs as suggested by chris (amazing how much crap there is in a block between the liners) I have got the correct tool for this if you want to borrow it, and attempt to flush as much out of the block as possible. You may need to prod something in the drain holes to loosen the crud.
