window motor replacement
#1
Hi everyone, happy new year to you all

just had new window motors delivered and i need some advice on removing the old ones. so the windows are fully up and i cant easily access the bolts that hold the window rail to the motor is there any way to move either the window down manually or the whole setup down so that i can remove the 2 bolts?

my old motors are completely dead even after i realised the whole passenger door harness was disconnected  Rolleyes

Did both of mine last October but I was lucky enough that there was still 'some' life left in them to lower the window to get those 2 bolts.
I'd say remove the rest of the window motor bolts and there should be enough movement at the motor end to allow the window to slide down the guides. Until the 2 bolts appear in that square gap in the stainless.

I have photos of how the new motors are positioned if you want them.

I thought that would be an option to remove all possible bolts and try sliding the whole thing down, i was sent instructions with my new motors but the pics aren't the best so if you dont mind id be grateful of those pics Smile

If I remember there is some wiggle room at the bottom of the door to bring that window down a couple inches... with the new motors, it can get very fiddly aligning it all up.

Top Tip - Don't tighten any bolts until they are all in place and hand tight to let it sit where it wants to sit, especially the bracket that bolts onto the grab handle support. (Last Photo below)

Also, I tied the door down so when you sit sideways in the seat, it's all at eye level.

Ah okay, luckily the way the car is parked currently the drivers door doesn't open fully but stopping at near eye level but I'll have to get something for the passenger side.

I'll make sure to keep them hand tight until both are in place properly

so, ive managed to fit the new window motor but im slightly concerned at the fact the rail is extremely close to touching the outer skin of the door, now if its supposed to be like that until i refit the window then i guess nothing to worry about.
