It should come out. The Studs are pressed into the cat as you can see on mikes picture.

As long as all the nuts are off then it should not be held in place by anything other than the lip Nick mentioned.

I've had a few tough ones but never one that has refused to come off. Soak the bugger in WD40 over night and try again. If not have you tried a blow torch to get it hot and then see if it will move ? The Cross over pipe it's attached to is quite robust but be careful of the manifolds.

P.S. You could always tie some rope around it and then to the wall and drive off (ONLY JOKING!!!!)
