DOC Meet up 2016 - ideas?
#16
Cheers Malc, I'll look into it.

Chris, I'm mindful that some people will have paid to go to Eurofest (we wont be), which is why I'm
suggesting something later in the year (like we did with the Derbyshire meet a few years ago).

If we did the Premier Inn option, it would cost a couple about £90 for the weekend, plus meals, assuming
they stayed two nights. Brewers Fayre are good value for meals, so I'd like to think it wont be an
expensive weekend, especially compared to the events in Whitby and Dorset where we had hotels of a
'higher standard' so to speak.

I also think it would be nice for the DOC-UK to have its own 'standalone' event to commemorate 20yrs of the Club.

I'm with you Claire; I won't be going to Eurofest either, so I'm happy to celebrate elsewhere.

cool, thats good Dan Smile

Well discussions are progressing with Jodrell Bank, they are concerned that their car
park isnt big enough (153 spaces including 11 disabled), but I've reassured her.

Photographs of cars with the telescope will probably be a no-no sadly, but it looks a fascinating
place to visit all the same.

Anyway, as and when I get more information, I'll post the details.

ok, still pondering ideas ref 2016........

Incase Cheshire doesnt work out, how do people feel about Bucks/Northants
area? I know an excellent eatery with attached Premier Inn on the A43 near
Silverstone (we have annual Matra Enthusiasts Club UK meet there).
I could enquire about a group visit to Bletchley Park, home of
the WW2 Enigma codebreakers, and also the national computer museum, and
maybe see if we could get a group visit to Silverstone too.

Ideas and opinions welcome as always.

And yes I'll sort summat out ref a Midlands area Xmas meal Wink

Bletchley does sound interesting, I've wanted to go for ages.

If we do go to Cheshire, how's about:

ok, so the idea of Bletchley Park is getting a few more thumbs up ....
I'll enquire with Silverstone regarding going there, maybe tie something
in with a raceday and displaying the cars at the circuit?

There's nowt to stop us having a visit to Cheshire the following year if
Bletchley wins out for 2016.
