DOC Meet up 2016 - ideas?
#31
hi all,

now that Christmas and New Year is out of the way, I'm going to start trying to sort this years event out.

Feedback I've received suggests that Bletchley Park/National Computer Museum is a more favoured choice of venue,
and I'm going to try and arrange something with Silverstone for the Sunday. I'll update the thread, and put an events page
on the Club's Facebook Group when I have more information.

Right folks....

I've been in touch with Silverstone Circuit about going there as part of our weekend, but its pretty
expensive tbh:

Tour of Silverstone - £30pp

  *   Time: 2hrs approx.
  *   Welcome reception and introduction to Silverstone
  *   Drive workshop tour
  *   Race control visit
  *   Winners' podium photo opportunity
  *   Guided tour of the Grand Prix circuit*
  *   Opportunity to purchase Silverstone official merchandise
*Tours of the Grand Prix Circuit are subject to track availability. If the track is not available the tour will be conducted from the perimeter road and/or spectator embankments.

I enquired about maybe visiting as part of their BTCC race meeting in September and having a dedicated parking area, but they said
that wasn't possible, and we'd have to park with everyone else.

I think therefore, Silverstone is a bit of a non starter, which is a shame.

I'm still in discussion with Bletchley Park and National Museum of Computing  (two things on same site), so will report back
when I know more.

As for somewhere to stay, I can recommend the Green Man at Brackley Hatch on the A43, its an excellent restaurant/pub with a
Premier Inn attached, we  go there every year with the Matra Enthusiasts Club and the food is excellent and it has a large carpark
which cannot be seen from the main road itself.
