I would prefer a turbo D, superchargers do weight quite a bit but also because they're belt driven it takes away between 5-10hp just to make the supercharger work even with the increased power which isn't alot but every little counts lol
I heard some cars today like Maclaren and Merc' are experimenting with fitting a supercharger and a turbo, removing the turbo-lag at standing starts with the supercharger and then romving the decreased hp with the turbo once running.

That has been done before but it's expensive, and very complex - you may as well just fit a bigger engine!
Very true but besides the Rolls Royce V16 you can't get much bigger than a Merc' V12, I think there should be more R&D in rotary engines I'd like to see a Rotary 6 or some thing like it that would be cool in a D

Yeah right, just *slightly* too long I reckon.... The DeLorean engine bay is very short. The chevvy conversions I've seen, and the Rover V8 all involve cutting into the rear closing plate so some of the engine ends up inside the rear fascia. Ditto Marc's Nissan engine although he moved the gearbox back too.

a rotary engine in a D has already been done in the USA - there was a gorgeous black painted D that had had it done.
It was sold a couple of years ago afaik.

That's "only" a triple rotor. And actually the largest production rotary to date.
