NEC Classic Car Show 2014
#16
I'm thinking of doing the weekend this year as the show just gets bigger and bigger. Does anyone else stay local? Any good hotels to keep an eye on?

I think people are gonna end up at different ones again, I booked a Travelodge in January when it was around £100 for the three nights, Mike/Mary are staying at the place they stayed last year (Brooklands Grange) the hotels at the NEC are stupidly expensive and not that good in my opinion. Speaking to John the other night he had not booked anywhere, ChrisP will probably commute and I believe Ollie was thinking of commuting as well.

Found their website so all answered, but do they ever sell out in advance?

Try and get there early, for easier parking, the later you arrive the busier it will be. no they never sellout……You can buy on the door, its just more expensive.

Do you know where I can find you, what hall/stage you are on?
Can't see it listed on NEC exhibitors list.

Popped round to see Tom, nice, helpful chap, just not a nice day. Girls still had fun though........

Having been at the stand today, I can assure you it is in hall 7, right near the stage and next to the Wheeler Dealers stand.

Trying to run the mileage down?

Yeah, that does seem a bit iffy.... The steering never locks with the wheels perfectly straight and in my opinion would put far more stress on the steering lock, column, bushes, wheel bearings, ball joints and of course running the angle drive in reverse at such speed. That front spoiler must be dicing with death too!

Mind, with a towing setup like that, it's a wiser choice than towing with the back wheels down.... As I presume it's an auto , and a column and angle drive are less expensive than a torque converter to replace

Personally I'd drop the shafts off for the sake of 20 mins work. That could be nasty if the steering lock broke suddenly, and quite likely with a deep pot hole at speed...

Maybe the front wheels are on furniture movers?

I'm sure it's all in Hand !

Enjoy the show all, see you Sunday.

Oh Benji, you coming now? Be good to catch up! Big Grin

Louvres too, don't forget about the great opportunity to lose your louvres by towing in reverse...!
