lower window felt, tips to replace?
#1
hi

finally managed to get my inner door panel off.

now, while i'm here

is it worth sorting the door solenoid or shall i disconnect?

what is it best to replace the lower window felt with?.

i gather it is just glue on, so remove the upper support to it perhaps?

anyone know i near equivalent that i could glue on?.

thanx again

You could rewind this or replace with these actuators

hi

thanx for that, i've decided to have the central locking not working, as i intend to disconnect power anyway when i leave the car.

now that item 6 (seal power window inner)

is this definately the 'fuzzy strip' that sticks to the metal long support?.

does it just glue on? and does it fit early vins?

Regards

Hey Steve. If you take it off you will find it is tacky on one side. Just glue it back on mate.

Just rewind the door solenoid and upgrade the central locking module. Less then £30 to do the lot.

hi

the felt strip is disintegrating. i have ordered new from dmceurope (£48 for both sides delivered)

the solenoid, i have not tested it yet, i may take it off to rewind anyway perhaps then once i've done both refit.

i do like things working properly so perhaps to leave off completely defeats the point.

if i test and it works, is it worth a rebuild anyway, or do they last ok?Regards

Not trying to hijack this post, But when I lock the doors. my passenger side door locks but will no longer unlock as in the large plastic locking button on the door (inside) tries to go back to its unlocked position but does not quiet get there. works fine operating it manually. Would this be an indication of a duff solenoid as well? thanks.

Measure the resistance of the windings of the solenoid to see if they are comparable. You can do this at the central locking module plug. Multimeter set to resistance multimeter black lead on an earth point. (Solenoids earthed at the door) pink leads on the 4 wires with the same colour (i think without looking at the manual).

The solenoid is adjustable in the fore and aft position using cage nuts so it might just need a slight adjustment.
