DOC-UK Summer meet up 9-11 September 2011
#1
Dear all,

2011 not only sees the 30th anniversary of the DeLorean car, but also the 15th
anniversary of the DeLorean Owners Club UK - yep, we really have been around
that long, and continue to be around for a long time to come!! lol

For 2011, the DOC-UK are holding their annual meet up in Derbyshire

It is on the weekend of 9-11 September 2011, and we will be based at The
Derbyshire Hotel, which is conveniently located being less then 5 minutes from
J28 of the M1 (A38). I will be going to see the hotel this week to check out
the facilities but here is their website: http://www.principal-hayley.com/venues- ... hire-hotel
Prices are as follows (subject to final confirmation):
Twin/Double occupancy rooms - bed, breakfast, 3 course evening meal £99 per room per night
Single occupancy rooms, bed, breakfast, 3 course evening meal £79
Cots available on request.
Address is: The Derbyshire Hotel Carter Lane East, South Normanton, Derbyshire, DE55 2EH

Friday 9th September - arrive from 3pm onwards, hotel check in, relax and unwind
and meet up with friends old and new. Fancy some retail therapy? Then
half a mile away you will find the East Midlands Designer Outlet, with dozens
of shops to choose from, including Next, GAP, M&S, etc, etc. Here's a link to
the website: http://tinyurl.com/34bau56
In the evening, the hotel are providing a three course meal, after which people
can relax in the bar or do whatever they choose.

Saturday 10th September - after breakfast, its off on an 11 mile drive to Crich
Tramway Village, where we will be their guests for the day. They are hoping to
make the day a 'Time Travel' day, and are seeing if they can arrange for Dr Who
and other sci fi groups to be involved too. We get free entry to the attraction
and free rides on the Trams all day too. Crich are also giving us free use of
one of their function rooms for our AGM, which will be held after lunch.
There will be a People's Choice competition again, and also a prize for the
furthest travelled to the event, so remember to check your mileage's before
you leave home! In the evening, its back to the hotel for another 3 course
meal, and afterwards there will be the prize giving and then a talk by a very
special guest speaker - the former head of finance at DMC in Dunmurry has
graciously offered to come and spend the weekend with us and tell us about
his time there - and maybe we'll all find out where the money really went! lol

Sunday 11th September - after breakfast (and hotel check out for those
going home), we are off to The Midland Railway Centre for the day. Midland
Railway Centre has a fascinating collection of classic steam and DMU engines
including the gorgeous 'Duchess of Sutherland', a beautiful Princess
Royal Class locomotive. We will be at their Swanwick Junction site,
and have been told that we will get half price train fare for the day. I'm not sure
at the moment whether they will be running steam, DMU or both that day, but
the train ride is a great way to spend some time, and you also get to visit the
attractions at their site at Butterley Station, just a short ride up the line.
My thanks go to Paul Bardill (trainmad) for organising this for us Smile

After a day playing with steam trains (hopefully Brians BTTF car wont be on
the tracks to re-create the end of BTTF3.... ) its time to say our goodbyes and
head home.

I'll post up details in due course of booking arrangements with the hotel, but
all that remains is for me to say, on behalf of the Club, that we hope to see
as many of you there as possible for a hopefully great weekend.

with less then 3 months to go until the event, I've today heard from the hotel, and whilst they still
have rooms set aside for us, they can only hold them for a month until the event before they have to
release them for general sale.

If you havent booked your room yet (which includes breakfast and 3 course evening meal), then please
dont delay, as we only have exclusivity until 12th August.

As a reminder, a double/twin is £99 per room per night, and a single occupancy is £79 per room per night (inc meals).

This is a very popular hotel, and we cannot guarantee rooms being available close to the event date.

just a quick update, as I've been up to the hotel today to see Leanne who is looking after
our stay. I've also booked in our special guest speaker, someone who will be talking about
his time at DMC for the first time in nearly 30 years, he was there at the beginning, during
and end of DMCL, and even dealt with the recievers during the final days.

For those who live local to the hotel and dont need to book a room, if you want to have the
meals only then a 2 course meal is £15, and 3 courses is £20 (wine/other beverages extra).

They will cordon off a section of the car park for us so that all the cars will be together, the
whole car park is also covered by security cameras.

The hotel couldnt be easier to get to, you come off the M1 at J28, take the 4th exit which is
the A38 towards Mansfield, and after about 100yds there is a left hand turning, take that and the
hotel is down that road on the left hand side.

As with all Principal Hayley hotels, the place is immaculate and very well presented and has an
AA 4 Star rating.

bttf car Wrote:if the wheels fit and i can make it im happy to have the Delorean Time Machine put on train tracks it been used on the actual tracks last year for a promo shoot in California
To clarify, J Ryan's (now your) old car was not the car used on the tracks last year. Charles Bocock's car was the one which was loaded onto the tracks, which is a WIP conversion, notable by the coil mesh being missing from the rear flux bands, along with various other missing parts. Just saying.
