Chassis Numbers
#1
Can anyone give me some information about chassis numbers?
I've been told the first DeLorean chassis off the production line had their numbers written in weld? and the later ones had a plate? Did I hear that right?
And were the chassis numbers sequentially matched up with engine numbers or just at random?

Think you hit the nail on the head mate, Very early ones were welded (not sure to what number) and then a plate welded on. There is no relation to chassis numbers and engine numbers.

I would have thought the best people to ask about this would be either Chrispy or Chris Nicholson/Darren Lampert at PJ Grady.

It's a bit of information I got from Chrispy that I wanted clearing up. I didn't give it much thought till later.
Basically I wanted to know if the early ones were welded because BAKNTIM has a welded number. I presumed
this is because she's one of the first 500 cars off the production line.
More interestingly, the number seems to be 0002!
Not sure I put the correct amount of zeros, but its zeros then a '2' !
Could this be the second chassis made for production vehicles?

(I've since cleaned the frame Tongue )
it then has an engine number 200
so ye looks like they grabbed the nearest parts and put them together.

Wow Paul, thats cool if you do have the 2nd frame that was made!

Yeah, thats what I thought.
Chris said they used to come in on a pallett all stacked up and they'ed take them off from the top one at a time and top the pile back up when they were running low. Hence why they got through 480 cars before they reached the last 2 on the pallett which were the first couple made! Big Grin
Hope this is true.
Well chuffed.
