Window Frame black, is it Satin Black ?

The paint round my front windscreen panels has seen better days.

Can anyone tell me if it is satin black pls.

What prep work is required to spray paint onto stainless.

Hi Nick,

from memory, lots and lots of primer!!!

We used good old Satin Black Hammerite spray as it gives a nice even finish.

Lots of coats of primer and paint is best, as they are prone to chipping if you only do a couple of coats of each.

No we didn't Claire :-) It's Plasticote Satin Black from Halfords and plasticotre metal primer first. Lex's is still holding up apart from a couple of stone chips after 5 years.

Mebbe so 3 odd years ago, but Dave had to repaint it again last year because patches of it had flaked and chipped off

Without doubt THE best primer to use on any metal is Rustoleum by Hard Hat paints

You can get it from Buck And Hickman, and no doubt loads of other places. It is quite expensive but it sticks like the proverbial to a blanket.

A friend of mine swears by it for his military vehicles - and if it's good enough for tanks.....

The black is just any old bogo standard satin black. Mine has remained rock solid for 3 years now. (Now i've said that, I fully expect to see it all flaking off!) :wink:

well on that subject, I had a REALLY expensive part replaced on Flopsy today....... Phill got me a new throttle cable as mine was sticking and the car would not accelerate smoothly.....he bought me 4 metres of cable so there was more then enough to do the job......at a wallet busting 58p per metre!

I can tell you that caused a few laughs at the "Chav Meet" tonight........"so how do you go for spares on one of these?" "oh no problem, B&Q stock the throttle cables for £2.32! :lol:

Anyway, early night tonight, I'm getting up at the sparrow's fart to get to Knebworth in the morning.
