Driveshaft to differential oil seals

Hi , has anybody done these seals in here? This seems like the opportune time to do them and there is some oil wetting there so I think they're weeping ( as am I ).

It looks like there is a roll pin to tap out then a castellated but to undo but I assume that will also lose end load on the diff.

Also does anyone have a part cross-reference for the seals?

Back in November, I bought some of these drive shaft seals. I bought two different types so i could compare.

I bought these cheap as chips ones from Ebay:

I also bought the latest correct and only offering direct from Renault themselves. The Renault part number for them is: 7703087188.
They cost me £45.82 for 2. In my opinion, the Ebay ones will probably do the job just fine (ribbed and shrowded etc same as the Renault ones), but the Renault ones do appear to be a bit better quality (in my opinion). There's quite a bit of a price difference between them obviously, so it comes down to "you pays you money and you take you chances".
Not something you're expecting to replace very often...

You can pull the old seals out and push the new ones in without disturbing the castle nut for the differenital preload. As you say though, you do need to punch out the long roll pins to get at them behind the shaft coupling. Just remember to seal the splines on the shafts when putting them back on after the seals are swapped over to stop gearbox oil migrating out along the splines and on to the garage floor.

I reused my old ones, but it really depends on the condition of them. I can't remember the length of them i'm afraid. (Same as diameter of coupling flange at that location). I *think* the diameter is 6mm?. But you can measure and buy the same again once you've got them out too. It's not like thy're expensive, and you'll find them on the likes of Ebay etc without any bother.

Cheers matey. I managed to get one side out last night after I posted that, and it looks ok. Seals are allegedly on their way...

Once I'd seen how easy they were to swap, I elected for the cheapies - I'll be able to get at them again easily enough if they fail.
