The old one looks better. Preferably the old old one, like in Bond.

From the point if view of it being a completely different car, its ok; in all reality it is a completely different car but they call it the Eprit for the kudos the name already has.

Oh Yes,

I think that one is a photoshoped Lambo. Lotus are currently testing the BMW V8 in an old esprit and it's doing very well.

There are some spy shots of the complete Esprit and it looks good. I'll see if I can find some shots. There are rumors also that it is based on the old V8 Esprit chassis so it is still the same car underneath and still related to the D

However there are rumors that Lotus are looking to go into the Hypercar market so this Esprit might cost over £80,000 Shock

Surely a BMW V8 would require some carving up of the standard chassis to make it fit?

I remember that the DeLotus required a lot of chassis modification to allow the Lotus V8 (essentially 2x 4 cylinders welded together apparently) to fit http://www.entermyworld.com/gallery/dmc ... conversion

From memory the above is why the Lotus V8 does not sound like any other V8.

Dan, Chris S, can you confirm the above is right? (although you both own 4 pot turbo's)

The BMW V8 probably weighs quite a bit more than an old Rover V8 and surely would be a bad idea in the back of a DeLorean, right? Tongue

A bit like what Vauxhall do with the Corsa, Astra etc... all of which have minimum Kudos haha, backed by Clarkson no less! God I hate GM lol! That new Esprit looks so hot though! Shock

If you look at the Esprit chassis the rear is tubular so can be remade to fit most engines.

The BMW engine does hang down quite low, but at the moment it's a test mule

The Lotus V8 is not two 4 Pots, the 918 engine was designed to be modular so that it could be a 4,6,8,10 or 12 cylinder V engine. It was designed completely from the ground up but due to its modular design is a 90 degree V so that is why it sounds a little strange.

Here is a link to some pictures of the test car.

And Here is a link to the actual car. Forget the paint job it's in camouflage
