WPC 246X - VIN 6424, Grey, Manual - Surrey
#1
John Dennys car is up for sale in Surrey. The Vin is 6424, a November 1981 build with grey interior, manual transmission, registration number WPC 246X.

The current mileage is 52,800 miles and is MOT'd until July 2015. John has indicated he would be happy to provide the car with a fresh MOT for the new owner.

From memory I know it's had, new Pirelli tyres, dash, binnacle and seat's re-trimmed, along with a re-grain by Chris Nicholson, chassis has been given a coat of waxoyl to protect it, front and rear fascias resprayed.

I was with John today and had him pull the car out of the garage so I could grab a good few pictures of it, all of which I have uploaded to dropbox on the following link: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/2wj9y4dol5im ... 94Kva?dl=0

For any interest, please contact John direct:

shared to the Club's Facebook page, hopefully it will generate interest for him.

Any idea what sort of price he's looking at for it?

Thanks for that Claire.

£28k is very keenly priced. In my opinion it's £2-£4k underpriced for such a nice car.

That's as maybe but there are not many folk that can put their hands on £28K…let alone £30 or £32.

John has now entered the car into a forthcoming auction at Brooklands on the 7th March.

I am surprised that no one has 'snapped it up' before now. Looks a lovely car.

It will be interesting to see what it does make. The Auctioneer should do OK anyway.

I thought you guys could pretty much name your price on these cars over there. I am still surprised how many sell here in the U.S. and get shipped to the U.K. Taking into account the cost of shipping, timeframe, and the fact that most can't undergo a personal inspection would make a car for sale there so much more attractive even if it is above market. I didn't even mention the risks of international online transactions, oh and I almost forgot, making them M.O.T. ready. If I was an English chap looking for a DeLorean, I would exhaust the market before looking overseas.

I personally think it is just the wrong time of year to try and sell a car over here. Just after Christmas meaning money is tight, bad weather so you have salt and crap on the roads meaning no one is going to be driving a classic car anyway. It would have been better to wait another couple of months and advertise late April / early May, going in to the summer I think there would have been more interest.

I will be interested to see what the car sell's for on Saturday, it is a good, clean car, so I really hope John get's a good price for it.

I'm sure he will and deserves to. I trust he has set a sensible reserve?

Personally I think the reserve is too low.

Do we know what the reserve is? Sometimes its more than you'd think and they often won't tell you what it is.
