Surprised thats still for sale.... having been fetured in Classic & Sportscar as well as through other adverts. Interior looks good but check the chassis well.

As mentioned before, a quick Google will show there has been past identity issues with this car. It might be genuine, but even at that price with chassis issues, it should have sold by now, or someone who's seen it to chime in with their thoughts.

A delorean is a delorean at the end of the day, and anyone wishing to get onto the ladder wouldn't hesitate really, especially with duties paid, MOT etc.

UNLESS of course, it is an obvious case of identity theft/fraud/Scam in which case it should be reported to the relevant authorities.

When selling an expensive classic, words like "so I'm told" are a huge X in my opinion. IF any member goes for it, do yourselves a favour and take a D specialist with you to check that front chassis.. :?

I absolutely agree Luke.

Just to clarify…is this the one with the 'extensive' messy repairs to the front chassis?

I loose track. But I also miss lots of sales cos I can't keep on track. I hoped someone might be posting them to a facebook group or something with notifications but people are too busy I guess Tongue

Nothing screams well written like an advert written entirely in CAPS.

I couldn't bring myself to read past the first line of that ad.

I hear what you say Mike, but its the car thats important not the contact information.

If it were local to me i'd look at it. If only to be able to share my opinion with the rest of you.

For easier reading:

Quote:A stunning delorean, with original engine and rare manual gearbox.

Has not been used for the last few years, and needs recommissioning before use.

She starts easily, and runs well, the engine sounds fine, have taken her for a drive and she appears to drive okay from what i could tell, brakes stop her, handbrake doesn't work.

She needs a good lookover before use, and a good clean and tidy up all over. Most things seem to work, although not all, the exhaust is blowing, it has a leaky pipe or whatever that drops oil, etc etc.

The interior is not bad the leather is not ripped or torn and the previous owner has replaced the dashboard, pod and some other things. It can do with some further smartening but not too bad for a car of its age.

The body is quite good for its age, it does have dings on the lower rear quarters otherwise quite good with no accident damage, or whatever, although if you look closely you will find the odd blemish or whatever.

A lovely car, always gets loads of attention, has the original engine, in need of some work or full restoration as you prefer.

U.S. Import with all documents and duty paid, easy to register when ready for the road.

Comes with original delorean owners manual.

Low start and no further reserve.

Although this part:
Quote:U.S. Import with all documents and duty paid, easy to register when ready for the road.
Is this not contradictory? Easy to register, yet it is already sporting a UK plate in the pictures?

Surely there must be someone who lives near Canterbury who could have a look at it?

This little saga reminds me of the early years, when good DeLoreans occasionally popped up for very little money in the oddest places. One was advertised in the 'Exchange and Mart' for very low money and it said RHD. There was bit of public discussion for over a week, before it was snapped up 'for a song' by a lottery winner. It was exactly as stated….and a very good, low milage, well known car.
