Brooklands Museum - Classic American Car Day - Sun 7th Sept
#1
Just posting this up to see if anyone is interested in coming along to Brooklands this coming Sunday for their classic american car day.

http://www.brooklandsmuseum.com/index.p ... n-car-day/

There are a few of us going already, but the more cars the merrier, it would be great to be able to get a good group of cars together.

Brooklands have set aside a dedicated area for us to park and are also very kindly giving us complimentary entry (driver only).

If you think you may be able to make it, please do let me know so that I can advise Brooklands how many DeLorean's they can expect to arrive.

Gates open at 10:00 however I have been advised we can turn up from 09:30. A few of us are meeting up at John Dennys and driving down from there.

Cheers, Mike

I'm collecting my car tomorrow and then I have friends coming tomorrow evening. They are bringing their April '81 which he's just finished a nut and bolt rebuild on. Unless the plans can be changed we won't be able to make Sunday... Although it would be good to come especially if he can bring his car too...

No worries Chris, as it stands now there should be 6 cars in attendance, it would be great to add a couple more to that number if you are able to change things around. Timing wise Brooklands are fairly laid back, so if you could only make it later in the day that shouldn't be a problem. I expect we will be there until around 4ish.

Nice one Chris! With another addition earlier this evening, that takes us to 8 cars attending.

The bulk of us should be arriving around 9:45 at Brooklands.

Oh, if you are coming in from the direction of the A3 - as you pass the Shell petrol station on your left, when you come to the next roundabout go straight over it (ignore the signs directing you left as that's for joe public), then take the Campbell gate a few hundred yards from the roundabout on the left.

Thanks to Mike, Matt, John, Chris, and Darren for making the trip down to Brooklands yesterday, I hope you all enjoyed the day out. From speaking with the events organiser I know we caused quite a stir with so many DeLorean's turning up for the day.

I just received an email from the events lady at Brooklands re our visit on Sunday:
Quote:Hi Michael, Steve & John, just to say a HUGE thank you for getting the D’s to Brooklands – having 8 here was the first time for Brooklands, and we are so pleased that you “made it happen”. There will be an article in the Surrey Herald and Surrey Advertiser (Elmbridge edition), hopefully this week. thank you again for supporting us at this event. We hope that you had an enjoyable day.
See you soon
Kind regards
Donna
Thanks again to all who came to support the day Smile

Quote:Classic American cars on show at Brooklands Museum

Sep 10, 2014 15:37 By Fergus McEwan 2 Comments

Cars ranging from nine DeLoreans to 1920s Model T Fords and Chevrolets were on show at Brooklands Museum

Vintage motors and hot new rides were on display at Brooklands Museum in Weybridge during its American Classic Car Day on Sunday (September 7).

The show, now in its 12th year, featured 191 vehicles spanning about 90 years of US motoring history, ranging from 1920s Model T Fords to vintage and modern Corvettes, Mustangs, Cadillacs and Chevrolets.

More than 1,700 car enthusiasts flocked to the museum to see the impressive collection of pick-up trucks, convertibles, hard tops, soft tops, roadsters and hot rods exhibited by owners from across the country.

One of the highlights of the day was the sight of nine DeLoreans, the distinctive 80s sports car with gull-wing doors and a steel finish which starred in the Back to the Future film franchise.

Even more classic cars arrived later on in the day as the museum was the finishing point for a fundraising car rally, in aid of Surrey cancer charity GUTS, which featured MG, Lotus, Bentley and Rolls-Royce models.

Brooklands Museum events manager Donna Hopton, who organised the American Classic Car Day with US auto expert Dave Munson, said: "We had great weather and a great atmosphere on the day. Everyone loved it.

"The number of exhibitors and visitors at this event goes up every year. There are more British owners of classic American cars these days.

“These vehicles have really come back to the fore for motor fans."

Brooklands Museum is already planning next year's American Classic Car Day, which will be held on September 6 2015, as well as a general American-themed display on August 9.
