110728 - striker pin grommet
#1
Hey guys and gals.

Anyone have any ideas how to stick these things in place without destroying the plastic around them in the process?

I've tried black silicone sealant (the DeLorean universal stick me down stuff) but it don't work in this here case...?

Hi Chris.

I used the slightly stronger black polyurethane, or tiger seal to bond mine on.

I agree they are a menace, but a bit of that with some masking tape holding it on overnight and it will not come off again.

Don't be tempted to use superglue. It blooms the underbody and will stain it for evermore if it's visible.

Tiger seal is your (Messy) friend. ..

Is tiger seal the only thing? I have a tube of the stuff, but reluctant to open it just for 4 poxy grommets (since the stuff will just go hard in the tube as soon as the seal is broken)

I would never have used super glue. I was thinking contact adhesive. Anyone tried that? I think it would scrape off again later on when required...?

No don't waste your time with that stuff.

Visit a double glazing specialist and they will probably just give you the dregs of an already started polyurethane sealant. Then you can do the job cost free!
