As Richard wrote, Coy's have confirmed to me that the private buyer seems to have dropped out now, so looks like auction it is then. As Richard wrote It's what the film people want but I think the offer was just to tempting at the time.....

I'm at the auction now. The car looks good (as do the others they restored for the series). I'm betting it goes fir £35k.

The buyer was in the room but not sure who it was. Camera was too busily focused on Phillip and Ant hugging to be interested in anything else. Delorean is biggest price of all TV show cars so far with one to go (Land Rover).

And the Land Rover went for £35k so Delorean easily the most expensive car of the show.

Wow that makes my RHD a bargain for what I paid for it, even though it has not had a full resto but is a genuine one.

I think they have 15% buyers premium, which is £6000, then VAT at 20% on the premium is an other £1,200, making a total of:-
£47, 200.00 …... a bargin!

I hope the new owner gets the full joy out of owning his/her new purchase, and look forward to seeing the new RHD at club events later in the year.
I'm delighted that it went for a 'sensible' price... as it does help to reinforce the general price a good DeLorean should command.

I thought that as well, however It's been pointed out that it's 10% buyers premium on vehicles over 30k.
So does the new owner wish to fess up on hear :wink: :wink:

I spoke to the new owners before I left the auction. They were a father and son team - very friendly and they know their cars. However the car is going into their collection of 190 classic cars which I guess mean they won't use it very often (their website is
www.studio434.co.uk in case you're interested). Interestingly they already have a LHD Delorean in the collection (not sure what the VIN is but doubtless someone on here will know it) so presumably they wanted a RHD to go alongside it.
I've sent them an email today because I'd quite like to see their collection anyway and I'm keen to see what they will do with their latest purchase.

Thats very interesting, having looked at the website though under 80's cars DeLorean is spelt wrong and the pictures of the DeLorean are of Stuart Nicholls car from Ware! None the less seems a very interesting place.
