Somehow I found myself on Instagram and found a few photos of UK DeLoreans. Anyone know who they are?

The 3rd one down B261AKN belongs to a guy called Nick and was reg DEL4L, unfortunately someone recently hit the rear quarter by the side light (which is currently being fixed)

Found a couple myself on there while browsing the other day...

Love the pics though am curious how a Delorean could be on B-Reg number plate. Didn't B-Reg cars start in Sep 1983 thus well after production had stopped? Or is this car one of the very late US made cars?

B prefix was for cars registered from 1 August 1984 to 31 July 1985.

It's on a 1983 model year car, but I think A-plates started in 1983, so a B would be 1984.

Most of the other 83s are on Y plates

So in that case this car must have been made and then sat around somewhere for a couple of years before being registered. I hadn't heard of that sort of thing happening. What is the VIn of this car? Presumably one of ones beginning 20000?

It does happen from time to time Richard.

I know of a DeLorean on a C prefix too.

Years ago I worked for Renault and I knew of a Clio that was a 96-98 model yet due to it being surplus stock that nobody wanted because a facelift Clio had been released in late 1998, until it was reduced by a huge amount (that the dealer had to lose) it was sold on a later plate, but in effect it was a new car.

If the B plated DeLorean was first registered in 1984 then as long as it was declared new, it would have got a B prefix.

If somebody had an unregistered DeLorean with zero miles, I see no reason why it couldnt be registered as a new 63 plate... But I guess year of manufacture plays a small role.

That's fascinating. I had always assumed that once they had been made, cars were pretty much registered immediately. That said it's also quite sad to think that a few Deloreans must have sat around unwanted until somebody finally took them on a couple of years after manufacture.

David P's RHD in Norfolk is a "C" reg and I know one Ex club member had a D reg issued, because on my suggestion , he bought D12 DMC off the government. I'm not sure if it ever got put on his car though. I remember the car was re-trimmed on a very small budget…and you could tell! I think it was the same car that was reported abandoned at a garage "Up NORF" recently.
