Hello from the baking hot mid south United States. I've been a part of the DeLorean community over here for fifteen years or so and am currently trying to wrap up the restoration of my second car. In addition to DeLoreans, I also have a fairly severe Land Rover addiction and drive a Defender 90 more days than not. Needless to say, the spanners stay busy.
I've all but unsubscribed from the DML and frequently grow tired of sifting through DMCTalk, so I need a new forum to fill the void! I have some family living on your side of the pond for a while, so maybe that'll help get me past the front gate, at least.

I've just been looking through your website, showing all your hard work on these lovely cars. I must say, I'm very jealous.
My car is in need of some TLC and lots of hard work to safeguard it against the inevitable onslaught of age, mileage, and environmental attacks, which is a constant thing in this country, especially in Scotland, even when the car is sitting in the garage!
My car is due a chassis off job, and i'm currently saving for this to be done to my car. Everything shown in your website is precisely what I'm after being done to my car too. Unfortunately, I don't have the same setup as yourself, so cannot undertake this myself, with, or without help. Instead, I think i'm going to have to hand the car to someone with the capability, and know how, to do it for me, while I wave all my hard earned cash in their face. lol!
My car has started failing M.O.T's in the last 2 years, due to the engine cradle rotting away, and needing welding done etc. I'd like to get it all fixed up properly, while the original chassis is not too far removed from original. This is severely restricting my enjoyment of the car, since I don't purposely take the car out in the wet. Although I will "let go" from time to time, overall, I'm preoccupied all the time with trying to keep the car as dry as possible.
Anyway, it was very interesting looking over your site. The pictures are great. Well done on all fronts.

Thank you for your kind words. Best of luck with your frame work when it comes time - let me know if you have any questions, though I know there are plenty of people on this board who have much more expertise than I do!
Your goal should be to finish faster than me... at over years in, I've set the bar quite low, so that shouldn't be hard!
As an aside, the inspection process where I live is nothing like MOT - it's basically a joke, especially for pre-OBD2 vehicles. Just last week I ran the DeLorean through for the annual $10 emissions test - the staff watched as I increased the idle to ensure a pass just before pulling into the bay, then watched again as I promptly adjusted it back down after receiving my certificate

My car is due a frame off resto too at some point in the not too distant future, its getting a bit like
flaky pastry in the rear sections, and its always been a bit flaky in the front under the brake resevoir,
as that was leaking when I got the car in 2002.
Also, my heater doesnt work properly anymore - well it used to, but it had some interior work done at
a specialist a few years back, and its never worked since it came back, so I'm assuming it wasnt plumbed
back up properly (or at all).
Anyway, work on my car (including sorting out the creaky front end) will have to wait until our garage is
finished and we can install a car lift....

Check the valve at the back of the engine bay isn't stuck closed. If you can get cold air blowing, you should be able to get hot air blowing, it's just one flap.

ah right, cheers Martin, will have a looksie tomorrow - the "blower" (if you can call it that) only works
on speed 3 & 4, and only on a couple of the settings, thats why I thought the whole system had been
put back together (badly) when it was away at a repairers in 2007/8. The temperature dial has no
effect whatsoever.

speeds 1-3 are powered via the multi-way connector that goes to the resistor pack next to the blower motor.
These get verry rusty, but only $10 from John Hervey to replace. I did one on the current car and the connector was absolutely shot so I had to label all the wires and re-crimp them individually.
As for the hot/cold thing if the temp controller is easy to turn, is it actually moving the cable behind?

Wow, incredible, as Rissy did I've just been following the story of your restoration on your website. Very impressive and very inspirational. I'm currently in the market for a DeLorean and have been going back and forth about whether to attempt a restoration or get some more money together and shoot for more of a daily driver with some bits of work to be done. I've never attempted a restoration but your website really makes me keen, that said, perhaps a De as a first resto project might be foolhardy

Go for it! The DeLorean is really a simple vehicle and it's remarkably easy to lift the body off of the frame. I really got the "car bug" after buying my first DeLorean and, well, it's been a slippery slope from there...
There's no need for blower speeds 1-3 around here. With the temperature at 42.8 degrees Celsius, level 4 doesn't cut it
