A few pictures from Wooler

Hey all, after I joined here the other day, I decided to raid my parents collection of old photos for anything I could find D' related.

Although the hunt wasn't fruitless I was a little disappointed I couldn't find more!
So have a gander at these photos, and enjoy the little slice of D' history I tried to provide!





The bloke on the right under the door is my old man Looking distinctly younger than he is now however!

Apparently the plan was to lengthen this old Continental to 25ft!



A Dodge Super Ram (?) fire truck built to go 120mph for emergencies!



The owner wanted the cab of this truck moved forward from above the wheels to the current position in front - Wooler had to lengthen the pedal box linkages, re-weld the chassis, and do a couple of other things. Basically, refabricate the whole front end of the truck!

They are great finds, sure to exite the RHD owners on hear!! I think the last one of the truck is an airfield catering lorry conversion.

Well I hope so I will keep on the look out for any more, but I'm doubtful!
You could well be right Chris - mhy dad never told me what it was for, only what they had done! But something airline related did spring to mind!

It probably was converted for airport use, the lift body would have been supplied and fitted by another manufacturer-but these conversions are normally done in multiple units, not just as 'one offs'. (the cabs lowered so as to avoid the aircraft fuselage and a hydraulic scissor lift mechanism raises the catering unit to access the passsenger doors) 8)

What great pictures. Keep wondering if one of those cars is ours! Wish we could identify them but of course, no hope!

Hi All, just needed to clarify on orders from my dad:

This truck was not actually done at Wooler, but was done where he worked next at Locomotors. Sorry for the confusion!

My dad says you were spot on with this, this is exactly what they were doing with it!
