I was wondering if there was an led upgrade for the rear light unit available or is there a way of using LED bulbs in the current circuit board?

...you can. They cost a lot to buy, and they're rubbish in my opinion. Not bright enough. I had them...for a bit. But swapped them back for old fashioned ones. Personally, i'd recommend just getting the slightly stronger rated ones from hal-frauds. Or somewhere similar. That's what i did. Much cheaper, more effective, and with the use these cars typically get, they'll last a long time too.

Some of the modern ones that throw light out in all directions are really good.

Phill's had them for years on 'Sorbet', only thing I find when I'm following him
is that when he brakes the rear lights can sort of 'flicker' a bit before coming on fully.
