Replacing drive shafts
#1
My car packed up last week and it seems that it has a broken outer drive shaft spline, it needs a bearing and flange as well.

I have found the part numbers on the US Delorean Motors web site but I can't find anything here. The US prices are about $380 + shipping + customs charges. Is this my only option or is there anyone else i should talk to?

I would have thought that either Dave Howarth (contact details in mag) P.J Grady's or Martin @ delorean.co.uk should have a S/H one knocking about. That seems a stupid price (plus extortinate shipping and handling) for a part.

Can you point me to exactly which parts you need here:

And explain what symptoms you've got? It sounds very peculiar. The DeLorean's CV joints and shafts are usually very reliable - probably due to lack of power being put through them!

The quick answer is no, I don't have any of these spares, though I think PJ has a fully loaded rear hub carrier that used to be mine. The rear wheel bearing is an off-the-shelf part.

Parts are 7, 8, 9, 11, 13, & 14 on the diagram.

Problem was that as soon as you released the clutch you just got a grinding noise and no forward motion, which I originally thought was a clutch problem so the car was trailered to mechanic i know. He took a look and told me the drive shaft was the problem.
