A Chevvy V8 won't fit, a V6 does (just) and bellhousings are avalable from GTO, as are uprated gearsets.
I've got a project which we can talk about if you'd like to get in touch. I'm more active on the other forum though.
Why won't a SBC fit? If a Northstar does and an SBC being one of the most compact, I'd be surprised - I assume it's to do with the sump rather than the actual block and heads? That can be remedied with a dry setup easily enough. Oh, and Rover and Lotus V8s fit too!
mwuhahahhaaaaaaaaaaaaa - I can see a Dan Willis Special Monster DeLorean ......
Could it be any other way?

Rover V8 only fits with a gnat's cock to spare, and with lots of mods. Lotus V8 is really VERY small for a V8. The Chevvy V6 I saw included a poky stick to space out the rear fascia far enough for the water pump pulley and the rear back board was cut up to accommodate it. In driving Marc Levy's VQ35-powered DeLorean, with the engine spaced only a few inches further back, the weight balance was really thrown. Rick Gendreau's twin engined DeLorean has a completely custom chassis and massively modified underbody which fits the Cadillac Eldorado setup in mid engined form.
Not worth the effort for the sake of the noise it makes. If you want something poky and which sounds gorgeous, try and track down a 24v 3 litre PRV. If nothing else, you'll have 6 seperate exhaust ports on each side and berks at car shows will think it's a V12. 230hp with a re-map and have been shown to easily beat a 260hp turbo on a hillclimb.

Cheers Martin; I knew you'd come up with something like that
Well, I'll do my research - and I'm not dead-set on a V8; I just like the idea. The 3.0 might work....

well I suppose Dan, if you dont want to modify a 'good' car, then theres nothing to
stop you buying something that needs work or has a blown V6, and then you can
always modify the bodytub to suit.
I was looking at a couple of V8 Vauxhall Firenza's at Billing, both with 5.7L engines in,
and the bulkheads had been cut and moved back to accomodate the engines. Sounded
fantastic too
One of them is running around 12secs on the 1/4 mile strip

They sound absolutely incredible....
Check out the 400Gt (admittedly it's turbo'd but it's got seperate pipework for each bank).

I've seen and heard that car while at DCS Gettysburg.
The owner is Rick Gendreau (former Dutch guy).
Indeed a Honda engine in the front, but the rear is a V8 Eldorado if I recall correctly.
Because of the front engine using the front radiator, the rear engine needed another setup.
The radiator is halfway over the engine and doesn't cool that well.
Rick only starts and drives that engine short distances, also because it's fuel hungry.
If you need more info you can find Rick at DMCTalk forum.

He left The Netherlands some 30 years ago.
Time can make a difference there.
However before DCS 08 we had e-mail exchange and he explained being former Dutch.
He even could write in Dutch.

It's all food for thought. Just started a new job so it's not on the forefront of all I think about.
I actually have to replace my daily driver first, sell the Monaro and THEN think about the next garage car - and DeLoreans are always there tempting me back... but, so is the Aston Martin V8 Vantage (no, no need to tell me they're crap - it's has NOTHING to do with it being a good car and EVERYTHING to do what my chest tells me when I see them!).
Time will tell - I'm hanging around this time. Might hit a few shows and will spend more time with you guys at the NEC this year (get my mojo back).

Gez there is a way of changing it to show the real word in the 'user control panel' somewhere. I did it when this was bought in so I could still see the real word. Your Arse came out fine.
What does this look like on the censored version: ***** Wanker ?
