The below image from the original BTTF has been brightened to allow a clearer view of the components:-
More Universal ride info from someone else here:-

I have yet to personally see a BTTF Ride...

Question i never seem to see a proper answer for is " What vins were used in the films and where are the screen used cars now? "
I would of thought this would have be more widely known.
I hear all sorts of stories of theses cars sat in Universals 'back lot' falling apart etc, cant believe that they would let something as iconic as this go to rack and ruins.
The car shown above is a nice replica ? or is it claiming to be a screen used one?

Are all the bits and bobs fastened to the engine cover? (Not the louvres).

See the above link. My car is 6 numbers from the BTTF car used in the mall chase! Check your vin out with the above link. I submitted my town change a while back it is still showing High Wycombe...

Back to BTTF..
The brightened imaged in my last post is a still from the first movie as the car is heading down the main street in Hill Valley at 10.03pm towards the clock. You can see the lightening hook mounted on the car ready to pick up the lightening charge...
The car at Universal I believe was not an actual movie car but could potentially have used the same supply of parts (shared the same shopping list) as the movie cars.
I have seen various images over the years that show the cars have been neglected. See how this car at the ride is missing the BTTF trim by the exposed black brackets:-
Another example can be seen on Tamir's site:-

Seen at its peak:-

Sadly even the miniature DeLorean used for the rotoscope flying effects is allowed to rot:-

If Lucas was involved these items would be looked after better, but Universal seem to see it all as just a commodity. The BTTF DVD's make them the real money now, so the props etc just seem to be completely ignored. A real shame!
