well, its done, rack recon'd cost more than quoted,
they had a problem getting some bearings,
CO fine now new probe fitted,
brake was the cable wasnt attached properly on the near side,
he didnt take off the old weld on the left, because it has been braised :?
so he has left me to sort that out, Grinder on standby, but now its done, now it has an oil leak, not sure where from, bottom of bell housing is dripping and the front of the sump is also pretty wet, might be rear main seal but couldnt see to well, ill have to get under there, clean it an try and see where its coming from, its not a huge leak btw, it will just make a mess if i leave it,

yeah well such is the nature of older cars, at least now i can send of and get the thing licenced. should be up and running for the spring,,thats the main thing

My battery arrived on tuesday Dan. I'll be fitting it on sunday, so I'll give you the nod if its a good fit, and try and get some pics.......

in all fairness, the Delorean frame has stood the test of time well.

mine seems good, but a hole through in one place that PJGrady is sorting.

its 27 years on from manufacture. imagine what an escort frame would be like. dust.

of course JD wanted an ss frame but cost were already too high.

just wish all the bolts and fixings were ss though.

I have heard since that a s/s frame wouldn't flex and give like the frames used on our cars. This would mean that you are sacrificing ride quality for longevity... :?

This came from from a certain UK source who knows the standard car 'very' well and was sure he could feel the difference when driving a s/s framed car(s) in the US... :wink:

I am completely with you on the point about wanting all the fittings to be s/s, that would make life easier...

Define "ride quality"...? A stiffer chassis makes for better handling, assuming the suspension is set up well.

I agree but what he was describing to me was what he felt. Nothing was said about the state of the suspension, how long he drove it or how fast. The kind of surface the car was being driven on wasn't mentioned either.
