I was just digging around in some digital copies of old workshop manuals and parts manuals,
and managed to find a chassis diagram with a bunch of dimensions.
It's a start I guess! And I suppose the chassis is the best place to start.

BTW Scott if you want the manual with the chassis dimensions for your project, I'd be happy to send you a copy.

The red underbody sold on Ebay a couple of years ago, the chassis has not surfaced yet AFAIK

Models like yours and the red one are great for the body panels and general shape, but obviously anything mechanical like the chassis will have been (I assume) handled by Lotus.

I've just done a quick model of the chassis, and I mean very quick. I literally just put the top and side views from the Workshop Manual together, and instantly saw a problem.

Other than the fact that it all needs properly cutting down, does anyone else think that the angle of the chassis in section G leading up towards the rear suspension centres is far too steep? Looking at photos it certainly looks that way.
I wouldn't be surprised if it is, these diagrams are often massively exaggerated, and with a lack of dimensions, are very hard to draw accurate models from.

I would not use the model picture I posted for reference to much, certinally the chassis is way out out!, but I dont think the diagram your working from is right either. I have dozens of chassis pictures from Lee's car at the NEC last year (mostly close ups of areas) but I do have some shots showing the whole thing. Your welcome to these (best Emailed to you)

Sorry for the late replay Matt. I found that info too a while back. It is as accurate as can be. The angle at 'G' is accurate, although the drawing makes it seem much more inclined than it is. Bare in mind that the whole frame fowrad of that is essentially stright to the datum.

I'll post some pics of my chassis model as I go, I have a complete sketch model of the frame and am working on drawing the suspension components at the moment.

I found them useful when I couldnt get to a chassic for viewing myself!

Those pics of the development models are interesting, does anyone know what they fetched on Ebay?
