New engine - Questions and a request for a rummage

Hi Guys,

Long time no speak, currently trying to get through a degree and work full time. Big appologises

My car is working correctly, after many attempts to get it setup. Nick T is an inspiration, THANKS.

I'm looking over the course of the summer to collect the parts for a stage 2 engine, and create a completely seperate engine. This way I always have a spare to go back to. With the exception of the sandwich plate which will need to be donated.

I hopefully should be able to get hold of a volvo 260 engine within the group, (Chris Williams) which is the same block, but as standard has domed pistons, so more power.

I will then need to get the volvo venturi for it, larger diameter and fuel distributer. This is where the rummage comes in. Does any have any sources for a venturi (volvo - larger opening) and a metering head from volvo. Come on NickT.

Anyways, any suggestions would be welcome. Want it to look standard, but have atouch more poke.

Stainless steel free flow is the light at the end of the tunnel, but currently the tunnel is pretty long.

I'm over near Braintree. No we havn't met, Ive only had my D since Janurary.

Is your Dad's D a very close Vin to mine?

I don't keep a load of spares about but try getting the engine as a whole unit from a specialist breakers or a breakers yard. Try and get them all from the same engine if possible, knowing that they are matched OK. This also true if you tried to put an even fire engine from a 760 into an odd fire engine 260 !

If Jason Monk is able to rebuild the metering head successfully (fingers crossed) then that should save a lot of cash.

If your engine is in good condition then the fuelling parts (including venturi) and distributor from an odd fire engine bolts into place.
To be honest, the most restrictive component is the exhaust manifolds and pipes. It all depends how much you have got to spend at the end of the day.
