Has anybody tried the easy ride shocks from special T I'm looking at my options my origanal shocks are a little tired

I defiantly don't want Spax I've had them on other cars I've owned plus its a Delorean not a Ferrari so don't need hardcore susspension LOL

I would recommend the Pro-Tech ones via Chris Hawes through this forum.

Thanks Chris I've spoken with Chris Hawes today I do like the look of the Pro Tech shocks I must admit

I've been looking at shocks as well and been going back and forth between the ProTech and Spax offerings.
I think Chris W did a write up for the club mag a few months ago about fitting new fronts which I will have to dig out.

I've been running SPAX since this time last year and despite the apparent quality issues the boys in the US had mine have been great.

RE: Easy ride shocks - Chris Williams - 20 Mar 2016

There are a lot of threads on hear about shocks especially SPAX, infact I still have the first prototypes in my garage from having had these developed! I had them on my old car and other than a few teething problem regarding bush holes I still think they are a good product. There have been issues with the top bushings failing but I think SPAX will supply replacements and with some of the US users having found they fail very quickly, though I wonder if this is a hot US state issue.
They are still the cheapest option out there and can be purchased from several places now, but I think the cheapest way is still from SPAX direct telling them your a DOC club member.
I'm very happy with the Pro-tech ones I fitted (fronts only so far) they are very well made and look really good as well!

I went ahead and ordered a full set from Chris, should be about two weeks lead time.
Once I get them fitted i'll get my wheels balanced and tracked properly and hopefully sort my handling issues out once and for all!

As ever if you need a hand just ask, the fronts are a piece of cake though, and you know how to get the rears apart from before!

Finally received my set of ProTec shocks (the day I put my order in the also got one for 300 so was a bit longer than the quoted 2 weeks!)
They look very shiny!

I have my wheels booked in at Wheel Genie in Huntington next week for a full refurb and then once these are fitted I will get all the balancing and tracking done ahead of the Eurofest road trip -all being well!

RE: Easy ride shocks - Chris Williams - 28 Apr 2016

Ohh, nice! Did you find anywhere to do the tracking??? I'm pretty sure Chris Hawes found somewhere local to have them done (IIRC) I have also heard fairly good reports about a place in Harston that has fancy tracking gear but have not used them myself.
Chris

RE: Easy ride shocks - TheScAtMaN - 29 Apr 2016

Not found anywhere for tracking yet. Can you remember what the place was called in Harston? I'll drop other-Chris a line as well.

Just digging through my back issues of Delorean News as I seem to remember you doing a write up on how to fit the shocks?!

RE: Easy ride shocks - Chris Williams - 29 Apr 2016

I think it's this place: http://www.gtsport.co.uk/ but it's easy to find it's on the A10 opposite the BP garage. As I say have not used them myself but have heard good things about them.
I did do a write up about replacing the shocks recently and there are similar write up's about replacing the rears in an earlier mag. The fronts really are easy though. Happy to come up and give you a hand if you wish.
Chris

Fronts seem easyish but not sure about the rears. You know me, never to proud to accept help :-) But only if you can spare the time that is.
