SIJ 1081 - Dangermouse - 19 Aug 2015

I found these on Instagram last night - the first pics I have seen of SIJ 1081. What happened to it?

A RHD, presumably a W-H car close in series to 1082,3 and 4

These pics posted by a Mike Haynes at what looks like a Lada or FSO dealership in 19??, but I don’t think he was the owner

A quick check of the DVLA shows

1079 - De Lorean
1080 - Toyota
1081 - Not Found
1082 - De Lorean
1083 - De Lorean
1084 - DeLorean
1085 - Not Found

so presumably one that has been re-registered?

Re: SIJ 1081 - Guinney1971 - 19 Aug 2015

those are Skoda's in the background, possibly Estelles.

Re: SIJ 1081 - Dangermouse - 19 Aug 2015

so they are.

It's been a while since I have seen such fine vehicles.....

Re: SIJ 1081 - Matt Clark - 19 Aug 2015

Weird - I sent this to Chris P this morning - not sure if you've checked his photos since but I asked the guy about it and he said this:

"It was many years ago, our company bought it to do the Beaujolais Nouveau race over to France, I spent a couple of days working on it, getting it ready."

Which sounds like a LOT of fun.

Re: SIJ 1081 - Chris P - 19 Aug 2015

This car keeps a low profile and is believed to have an AXI registration number now, but be located in Southern Ireland. I 'd like any further info on it.

Re: SIJ 1081 - Matt Clark - 20 Aug 2015

I had a check in case it matched this RHD:

But different wing/indicators, so probably not. Anyone know the deal with that one? I think someone photoshopped the plate and it's AXI 100, but I don't know where that memory comes from.

Re: SIJ 1081 - Dangermouse - 20 Aug 2015

According to the web, AXI100 is on an Audi 200

Are those gauges typical for a W-H car?

Re: SIJ 1081 - Chris P - 20 Aug 2015

I don't think the car is AXI ?100…….The gauges look like the Kilometre version as apposed to the more normal 140MPH ones, but both types were used.

Could have been AXI 800 then. Some of these images I saved a decade ago and are harder to find on the web than I thought... Not the right car so moot point anyway!

Re: SIJ 1081 - Dangermouse - 20 Aug 2015

and is this one an Auto? That would narrow it down a lot???

Re: SIJ 1081 - Rich Hanlon - 20 Aug 2015

RHD plus KM speedo implies Australia... - I think that's the only place that combination would have been used at that time?

(ROI now as well, of course, but ROI still would have used miles when this was taken...?)

Re: SIJ 1081 - Chris P - 20 Aug 2015

I think it was a case of sticking anything on they had to hand Richard…things were already starting to fall apart!

The front flasher are Ex WD. I've seen them fitted to one other RHD DeLorean, in fact I picked up a couple of brand new ones at Beaulieu a few years..still in their WD boxes!

Looks like an auto shifter if you squint - can't remember how the pedals look so not sure if there's just 2 or one is more visible in the footwell.

Re: SIJ 1081 - Chris P - 20 Aug 2015

Looks like a 5 speed to me! In any case there is only one Black interior Auto…….Andy Withers.

Re: SIJ 1081 - Rich Hanlon - 21 Aug 2015

yep, can't see the shifter, but its definitely a manual brake pedal, the auto's is double-width.
