Fuel Tank Plate - Pilot25dmc - 15 Apr 2007 Hi all Going to take the close-out plate that holds the fuel tank off the car tomorrow to get all the rust off it and paint it. I have only about 5 bolts holding it on and was wondering if I take it off will the fuel tank fall on my head??? I have about half a tank of fuel left. - steve.s - 15 Apr 2007 hi no the tank willl not fall if your is as a production car. it has a few jubilee clips (onto the fill pipe, vent pipe etc) holding it up. and also, i thought mine would slide out easy as the manual does not show any fixings. However i was eventually there with a hammer block of wood etc trying to drop it out. it is wedged with the foam strips, and the water pipes on each side. so i had to drain and drop the water pipes. - bozzzydmc - 16 Apr 2007 I heard of someone in the US trying to drive around without the fuel plate fitted, needless to say it did fall out in that case It may drop a little when you take the plate off but when i did mine i used a piece of ply and a jack to hold the tank up.... just in case |
