BUT it only adds 5bhp (Dyno tested before and after fitting) before was with a de-cat pipe. so don't expect to get a massive increase in performance. But I cant fault it for looks Chris Re: Stainless Exhaust Special Offer 2014 - Chris P - 01 Oct 2014 There are other advantages, perhaps the best ( IMO) is to remove the dreaded cross-over pipe over the bell housing. It keeps a lot of unwanted heat away from that area. Plus it looks and SOUNDS brilliant and of course doesn't rust like the original. I think they are brilliant. An absolutely key thing is to have the fuelling re-setup after fitting the new exhaust, otherwise you will not be getting the best performance out of it. Re: Stainless Exhaust Special Offer 2014 - Rich Hanlon - 01 Oct 2014 Any real-world MPG figures? (Not wanting to be a party-pooper but it is a bit of a consideration!!) Re: Stainless Exhaust Special Offer 2014 - Chris Williams - 01 Oct 2014 Quote:I have been passed some dyno figures for additional comparison. This was what mine (old car) was putting out when the rolling road test was done prior to fitting this exhaust. I did another test at a place in Hoddesdon and it achieved very similar results, tested again after fitting the exhaust and there was only 5hp difference. However note that the engine internals were very different and it had a cat by-pass pipe fitted prior to fitting this performance exhaust. Car was achieving around 27mpg after I had finished with it. It was noisier for normal motorway cruising, In comparision the car I have now achieves 30 mpg and being a tight fisted so and so this is more important to me now! CHRIS WILLIAMS MANUAL 152(Flywheel) 118(wheels) 34(transmission loss) VOLVO B28E ENGINE FITTED - HIGHER COMPRESSION PISTONS BY DEFAULT STANDARD EXHAUST - CAT BYPASS K JETRONIC (NO LAMBDA) - IE VOLVO GEAR BIGGER VENTURI ETC NOT TESTED/ SET FUEL PRESSURE TO OEM SET BASE FUELLING AIR TO FUEL RATIO 14.5 TO 1 DELOREAN CPR CPR WAS VAC'D TO INLET MANIFOLD BUT ROLLING ROAD SHOWED THIS WAS TOO RICH REMOVED VAC & PLUGGED SET BASE FUELLING Don't get me wrong I'm not trying to put any one off it as (if I had the money spare) would probably get another system myself (but with better noise reduction). They do look superb and tidy up the engine bay up no end. However just trying to make people aware that it's not gonna make a huge difference to your cars performance it will be noisier and if your exhaust manifold studs snap whilst removing the old system your gonna be in a whole world of pain. Re: Stainless Exhaust Special Offer 2014 - Rissy - 01 Oct 2014 Something like this is a very big outlay for the poorer DeLorean owners amongst us. Is there any way of people potentially paying up the cost of a unit instead of all at once? Also, is the tail pipe design personalise-able? (There is something about these tails which doesn't sit right with me, but I can't put my finger on why?) Re: Stainless Exhaust Special Offer 2014 - Guinney1971 - 01 Oct 2014 we spoke to a company in Birmingham who make custom exhausts a few years ago as they did the stainless system on our V6 Renault Avantime (we went for the 'quiet' system, but its still quite throaty when you rev it ) From memory, if you just wanted the back box/silencer doing in stainless, you'd be looking at £3-400 and they make it while you wait. Re: Stainless Exhaust Special Offer 2014 - jwrayth - 02 Oct 2014 I'm interested, having wanted to ditch my cat and crossover for some time. Though I'm also pursuing a bespoke system with a local Edinburgh chap, so I think it's going to come down to the price in the end! |
